I think the reason for the pattern differences is getting the least worn tire swapped with the most worn immediately in the rotation.

For anyone who has installed Rally Armor (or similar mud flaps:

Is this something that can be done, with appropriate tools, without lifting the car / removing the wheels?

Planning on getting mine in a week or so, and want to know what to expect.. Didn't know if there was any other drilling or anything if you get the 12-13 Impreza ones..

The rears are tougher to install without moving the wheels, but can probably be done with some finagling. The fronts you can always turn outward to get more space to work.

I have the strake kit on my car as well, and wanted to keep them on with the mudflaps. This involved trimming a small plastic piece on each rear wheel, but other than that it wasn't too bad to do. It def goes a lot faster after the first one

I installed my fronts by turning the wheel. Also agree that the rear could be done without removing the wheel, but it is easier if you do.

There is no cutting or drilling. Just pop out some plastic rivets, screw the flaps in, and you're done.

I want to install some flaps over top of my splash guards, the non aero ones. My only problem is the fronts look like I will be creating a 'pocket' between the flap and the guard, and I don't want debris collecting in there. Is there hollow space in the aero splash guards, and if so, did you do something to prevent crap from getting in there?

Your Premium 5-door Impreza doesn't have the side skirts, does it? You will find that you must have the side skirts in order to install the aero splash guards, and I believe only the Sport Premium has the side skirts.

No, I don't have side skirts. I just have the regular splash guards. I was wondering about how mud flaps installed over them differ between them and the sports' aero splash guards regarding the hollowed out section...

For the RA flaps, is there a particular model that is more of a matte finish vs a more glossy finish? Looking for a matte finish..

The section I'm worried about on the fronts would end up being like a cup with the flaps on. I was thinking of using some kind of foam sealant and fill it up. As for what I think would collect in there, mostly normal road debris (leaves, dirt, gravel,etc.). I would upload pics, but my newb ass isn't competent enough to figure out how to get the correct url from my Flickr account

Anyways, your probably right, it'll be fine and I'm just over thinking it. Thanks for the input!

They are mud flaps, they get dirty...

I understand this.

But I did not ask if they got dirty.

I asked if there was a variation that was a more matte finish.

I don't want everything on my car to be matte black, and the mud flaps to be shiny as hell.

If you're inclined to make them work, the RA basic flaps are a matte finish. You just need to figure out how to mount them and cut if necessary. They're made with a different, more stiff plastic so depends on if you care or not. I did it this way and they're only $25. I still need to do some adjusting but I'll get some pictures up later.

They are a bit glossy. I was surprised when I opened the box. However, after they get a thin coat of road grime you don't notice it.

I need to take some pics tomorrow. This is the only one I have from when I was installing. Way too dark. I tried to brighten it with a photo editor but this will do for tonight.

It would be best to have an extra hand installing these. At least for someone to step back and see if they're level. I installed them a bit farther out than the UR ones.

I dont have any pictures of the UR basic mudflaps on the new impreza, I did have a set on my old 98 legacy sedan.. .this is the only pic I can find of that right now:
http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps798a7ff8.jpg

Anyway, the matte mudflaps looked good but the UR ones function a bit better due to the flexibility of the material. The basic ones started to hold shape a bit after having them on there for over a year. Still highly functional either way compared to nothing at all.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but does the stiffness of the Basics over the URs create some kind of issue? Scraping with a flap that's stiffer make it more prone to cracking maybe? I believe the flapatax are stiff as well. Anyone heard of quality issues with theirs? Besides the ease of installation with the URs, what's the justification for the $100+ price difference from the basics?

What's the other options? Flapatax, Rock Blox? Either of them make custom fit ones?

I love my flapatax. They are very stiff but I have not had a problem with them scraping or breaking. RA are just so expensive
