They are there to get dirty, they will be dirty, unless you wash/wax them, after no time at all they will have a matte finish because of residual dirt....

Ra's are also flexible so if they hit something solid they just bend out of the way....

You are way overthinking this

I wouldn't really consider thinking about a purchase over $100 to be "overthinking". But hey, maybe that's just me. I like buying things once and being happy with said purchase.

maybe, but imho they are worth it. Good hardware, prefect fit, flexible even in the winter. I understand for most people these are more cosmetic then function but for me they were both because I dont Like rocks bouncing off my doors, and shinyness doesn't stay unless you physically wipe off the residual dirty

Mine are still in the box as I have been having second thoughts about how they are going to look. Think I'll be installing this weekend.

I love my Rally Armor flaps! Yeah they're a bit pricey and it took me a while to finally pull the trigger on them, but I'm very glad I did. They really are a quality product that offers great protection and they even look good as an added bonus . Definitely the best $140 I've spent for this car so far.

Probably just gonna get the custom fit ones. If I end up not liking the finish, I can always get the cut-to-fit ones and use the custom fits as a model. lol

Or take a green scrubbing pad and scuff them up. Seriously, they are mud flaps....

I'll buy them for you. Only catch is I get to put a couple coats of lacquer on them to get them extra shiny for you :-O haha

Kidding aside, like others have mentioned, they only stay glossy for a couple months or so. Probably less if you experience a lot of snow and slush. Get em. The side of your car will thank you.

Hey guys. Im new here, actually I've been lurking on here ever since my Impreza in July.....I'll post a car pic a little later when i get all the salt off it.

While we are on the topic of mudflaps. I just ordered some RA Basic Plus flaps and noticed that most people are taking apart their fenders and side skirts to install them. I know you have to do it with the RA UR but couldn't really find any installation tips for the basics. This is my first new car so I wanna do it right and not cause any damage.

Welcome! Sorry to hear you already have salt on your streets where you live. That stuff's the worst.

I would think that there'd be a PDF file of the installation instructions floating around somewhere on the web. It should give you an idea of how to install yours, but you'll have to figure out some things on your own because yours aren't pre-drilled or come without mounting hardware IIRC. Good luck.

In addition, to the people who DID buy the pre-fit ones for our cars, does the installation and associated installation equipment force you to pull any of the the liner, etc to place the mounting brackets? Just watched an install video for an STI. Wasn't sure how much variation it included car to car. Was just trying to see how much of a pain it'll be not using my jack. With winter here, the amount of decent days are quickly lowering.. If anything, I'll use Moore's lift and shop for them while I get something else done..

You do need to pull some of you fender lining to install the custom fit ones correctly. You'll also need to pull away a section of your OEM side skirts if you have them. Its really wasn't that difficult to do and there's no need to lift your car. I also was able to install mine without removing any tires. You'll need a very short or off-set screw driver to install the rears though if you don't remove your rear tires.

Excellent. The flaps will be my next purchase after I get my Yakima rack this weekend.. We have great weather this weekend, so I'm heading to REI to get the rack and doing it. If I could get the RA's locally, I'd probably be doing those on Sat too.. lol

But you CAN mount them over the splash guards, correct?

I have the rear Aero splash guards and was able to install my flaps over them. It took a little ingenuity, modding and a trip to the hardware store, but it is very possible.

Hm. Would you be nice enough to post a picture of said rear end? I was considering adding the rest of the lip kit at some point.. That'd be great if I could still retain the flaps..

Got some Hella Supertones and a bracket from Subimods and will be letting them know if the bracket can work on an XV since they hooked me up and are now buying wholesale from me.
