i was reading (after i bought my kit) that 55w may be too bright. there were more positive 35w than 55w. but there were some who were satisfied with 55w. bulb size for the impreza 2012 is H11. http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/660...BE-Ball_21.pdf

if i were to reorder, i would probably gone with the 35w

I went with 35w because we don't have projector type head lights. That being said you might get high beam a lot by on coming cars if you get 55w.

I have the 55w HID's. I think they are fine. The light kinda points down anyway. It doesnt appear like high beams. I looked at it myself at night time.

^Are these tough to install? I'll be getting my DGM Sport Premium on Monday or Tuesday and the price of these is too good to pass up. Although I had a kit for my 01 Altima which was a real pita to install.

55w is going to be crazy bright, I have 35w and I think its bright enough already, especially when I turn on my highs (I have dual high beams).

Anyone know how to open the light housing for the license plate lights? I'll tried both prying and pushing on the release clip, they seem to be in there pretty good.

Same goes for the hatch light as well as the map dome and interior light, there seems to be no prying point.

For those with the DDM HID kit, did you need any of the options? (Error eliminator, relay or mounting brackets?)

I'm planning on ordering the kit this week, but want to make sure I get what I need.

If you look very carefully you can see the pry points thru the housings on the map, dome and cargo lights. I couldn't find them on the license plate lamps so I ordered a spare set of housings so I can get an idea of where they are before I start prying them open. If I break the clip at least I have a replacement housing...

I was thinking of getting the brackets, but I guess it depends on where everyone is mounting the ballasts. Looks like a very straight forward install. And even though they have $16 shipping, still a great price for better visibility.

Brackets are really not going to do you any good as there isn't a easy place to mount them flat. My ballasts have holes in the corner so you can zip tie them in good location.

All I added was the mounting bracket for the ballast. You can bend the bracket so it's mounted cleaner, but you don't need to. No flickering no issues. I have an extra relay but did not use it at all.

Hmm..really? I can pry the map and dome light with a pry tool but for the map lights the white plastic section with the switches wants to come off too.

Where did you get the spare housings for and for how much?

I'm note sure if the SMD LEDs I bought would even fit the dome, map, cargo, and license plate lights.

On the dome, you will see the two clip areas in the clear cover opposite the dome switch. You can use a small flathead screwdriver and slowly pry each side gently and then the cover will come off. I got my LED bulbs from ijdmtoy or you can also get them from one Prodriven (vendor sponsor on this site). The rear plate lamp assemblies I ordered from any of the online Subaru parts/accessories vendors and they were about 9.00US a piece (dunno why they list left and right assemblies although they look the same). I could not see the clip area on mine so when the new ones arrive I will use them to find the clip area and then pop them off.

The first link you posted looks like they may work in the cargo but maybe too long for the plate..Here is ProDriven's link...

BTW - The map/dome bulbs are the 31mm Festoon bulbs

Cosmetics.

From a performance/safety perspective, I don't think they do much. I find my Impreza's halogen headlights to be plenty bright, so my visibility is very good at night. But HIDs do provide a whiter light, which gives the impression of being brighter.

And HIDs look cool, especially when they shine through projector lenses. I'm not fond of putting HID bulbs into a reflector housing.

All i think is to ricify it. Most of the lighting is plenty good, and if bulbs were burnt out, then change them, but they are brand be so spend money on something more worthwhile

I love the color LEDs give off plus less heat not to mention less power consumption (doesn't really matter with our cars) that is why I went with LED bulbs for the interior and license plate lamps. The stock Lo-Beams are pretty awesome at night already so I doubt I will mess with them. Maybe LED DRL and fog upgrades but the rest of the lights outside I will leave alone.

Yes please keep us updated on the DDM HID kit.

I would love a review or break down about the quality of the product.

I always had HID from ddm. As much as I'm not quite happy with their attitude on the phone, the lights are good quality. As far as warranty issues they are pretty good with it too. Just don't call them because the are pretty snooty.Lol...

I've had DDM's twice now and I haven't found any complaints about the quality of the bulbs. No issue with flickering, etc. For the price, I say they're the best bet. Plus they have lifetime warranty.

Anyone happen to have a cutoff pic of the DDM kit at about 25 feet from a wall?
