ya i know about 2 v 4 strokes and stuff but i just didnt understand why rotarys were different with displacement. but that makes sense and probably why the rx7 can make so much power with the turbos.

Don't give me too much credit. I'm a closet rotary fanatic and miss my RX7 and rx7club.com. I was just jumping at the chance to do some rotary talk. I think its funny that even with all the misinformation, some of the true stuff about rotaries sounds the most far fetched.

OP, maybe you should use a FD RX7 front end. Bare front clips are only $500 or so, and its a way sexier car than a Poopra

Wow! Thanks for the reply. Which year RX7 had the radial engine in it? I heard those make more power than renesis.

Turbos are what makes rotaries great and ruins them all at the same time. Rotaries flow CRAZY amounts of air, so they are able to spool large turbos very well. Good spool with a 8.5k+ redline is a great combo.

Turbos are also what makes rotaries unreliable. In naturally aspirated form, rotaries are basically bulletproof. They only have 3 moving parts, and are even commonly used small planes. But the apex seals (piston ring equivilant) cannot handle detonation (knock). The chances for detonation are increased exponentially once the engine gets boost.

I think the hood will be too low for the sti windsheild. You might have to do some fiberglass work or build up a cowl hood for the rx7.

I don't know what you mean by 'radial' engine.

First gen RX7 (FB) was a 12a engine. 1.2l that made no power
2nd gen RX7 (FC) was a 13b engine. It was a 1.3l that came turbo and NA. There are 4 port and 6 port intake designs. Turbo makes approx 230hp stock.
3rd gen RX7 (FD) was a 13b-rew engine. Its the twin turbo one we all know and love
RX8 had the renesis engine. The port design was changed to help fuel efficiency, which it did, but they suck at making power

Oh, whoops! Apparently I was thinking about a old BMW.

If the renesis is more efficient, wouldnt it make more power with the 13d-rew engines turbos?

Please, it isn't boxter, is boxer. You own a Subaru engine, not a Porshe convertable.

If you are serious, which I hope not, you will want to retain all the Subaru mechanicals. I wouldn't consider trying to make a 2JZ or rotary work with a subaru drivetrain and suspension.

Also, you failed my rotary lesson. RX7 engines are the piston equivilant of a 2.6l, which is bigger than any Subaru engine

no haha I knew the car was a fake.

I read that porsch trained subaru on how to build engines, so the only real differences are the numbers and letterings that say fuji
