The least believable part about the original post is that OP saw a Toyota commercial and thought about Supras.

I watched a BMW commercial today and thought about Hitler.

Turbos are also what makes rotaries unreliable. In naturally aspirated form, rotaries are basically bulletproof. They only have 3 moving parts, and are even commonly used small planes. But the apex seals (piston ring equivilant) cannot handle detonation (knock). The chances for detonation are increased exponentially once the engine gets boost.
That's why, even though the turbo is the hot setup for the rotary, a supercharger would be a more solid platform. The flow is too inconsistent with the rotary and getting a solid, consistent performance from the rotary is nearly impossible. I had a helluva time tuning my RX-8.

The NA, 3-rotor is the ONLY way to go. OP, Google that sheeeeeet.

hey liv4psi clear your PMs

EDIT: nevermind I'll post it here. liv4psi attempted to school me on rotaries via PM:

I tried to reply by PM but his box is full so I guess he can read this here, I don't really care...

Wrong. Rotary engines are 4-stroke engines. And not all piston engines are four stroke.

Quote:
2 stroke engines combine the stages down from 4 to 2. Some dirtbikes are 2 stroke as well. You have to premix oil with the gas. Rotaries need premixed as well.
The link you sent me proves you wrong. You are partially correct in that similar to many 2-stroke engines (ironically, ones that don't need premixing), rotaries utilize oil injection as part of their lubrication system. The statement "You have to premix oil with the gas" is WRONG.

Pre-mix means that you have to manually mix the oil in with the gas before you put it in the tank, or keep track of how much gas you put in and manually add oil accordingly. Rotary engines use oil injection so YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PREMIX. It post-mixes it through injection.

Some people don't trust the built in lubrication system and choose to pre-mix it instead, but this is not required (as you implied by your statement) and is therefore besides the point.

But thanks for fixing my ignorance

lol STIROC, All the fun of an AWD Subie, but still rather accommodating for your mullet. The only downside I can see is the lack of cup holders in the STI half, because what is an IROC without a half empty case of Coors Light in the passenger seat that you drink whenever do drive anywhere. Im just saying we need to think these conversions over a bit better.
