Default Found some wires in my trunk...

So I just got back in to the scooby world with an 02 SRP wagon. Love the car but while trying to diagnose a creak in the rear I found these wires going to my spare well in my trunk. The car is wired for an amp (was tracing the power wire an that's how I came across these). Their are 9 wires within each sheath. Any idea what this wiring could have been used for? I am going to trace them this weekend, just checking if anyone had ideas.

Sorry guys, can't post pics from the iPhone. There are two main wires (one to, one return?) both have 9 individual wires in each, insulated most in green an purple.

Probably amp wires to power the speakers?

Probably for some sort of speakers, I believe the stock Subaru speakers use green and another color, could be purple.
Not that it matters what color they are, but if there's amp wire with other wires that match Subaru's stock speaker wire colors, that would make sense.
They can be for anything though...

thanks guys, my thinking is the same. I really wish i could post the pictures because the sheathing around the 9 isn't any thing home made. It is a very heavy duty gauge around the other 9, if i wouldn't have seen the end I would have suspected something very different.

Follow the wires back in to the cabin and figure out where they're going/connected to. We could be wrong.

the routing of these went from my head unit area all the way back to my spare tyre.
after further digging /modifying / fixing / toying around with the car, i've determined it was for an amp or head unit. Just a very different wiring bundle, that to me seemed overdone for speakers. But hey, the more you know

thanks for all the help and suggestions

When I put my subs and amps in particularly my speaker amp I used a wire bundle that was like 16 different wires in a huge gauge wire sleeve. You have 4 speakers, Each have a positive and a negative so you run them to the back of the deck to the amp then back from the amp back to the speaker wires at the back of the stereo (if you want all your amps in the trunk that is).
