We're looking at getting together on Saturday January 19th to go karting, have dinner and beer (not in that order), and hand out the season trophies. Karting will be done again at AllSports Grand Prix in Sterling, VA, starting at 5PM. Dinner will likely be at Red Robin nearby at approximately 7PM. The format of the karting events (and price) will vary depending on how many people plan to attend. If you're not interested in karting please just come have dinner and/or a beer with us. We had a great past two seasons under Jard's leadership and will use this chance for everyone to extend a thanks. We look forward to seeing you! All of MAIC are welcome to join us.

Thought the BMW crowd might enjoy this story about a team who raced a 325 in the Baja 1000
http://www.expeditionportal.com/adve...baja-1000.html

Isabel and I finished 6th in the Maya Rally. We ended up not really concerning ourselves to much about getting points and trying to win as much as just finding the fun and adventure we were looking for. We got plenty of both.

After the rally we continued south and celebrated the New Year on the beach in Hopkins Belize.
We thought that might be our turnaround point but have decided we want to see more so we ventured into Guatemala.
We're currently spending a few days relaxing in San Pedro La Laguna by the lake with Volcan San Pedro looming over our shoulder.
The WRX has been running great. We stopped at the dealer in Guatemala City yesterday to get some parts, do some maintenance and have a clunking front suspension looked at.
The dealer was too busy to get the car on the lift but a nearby shop had a bay open and I think all we need are some new end links.
We'll probably wait 'till we get to the US and can source some aftermarket parts to fix it.
I think we'll be back in time for the first event of the 2013 season. See you all then.

Sounds like an awesome trip!

You can pull that sway bar entirely if you need to. It's not necessary to the suspension but it might make the car handle a little funky.

I debated removing it but then I'd have to stash it in the vehicle. I really don't want a sway bar bouncing around inside the vehicle, I'd much rather it bounce underneath the vehicle.

I'll take you up on that offer Mark. PM on the way.

Well since the space is mine here are a few pictures of the Municipal Police that befriended us and then gave us an escort across town.

If you believe Kevin Allen, removing it makes the car rotate just right for rallycross.

Fred's posted otherwise...matter of fact in a thread with jard. tell him to make up his 'ing mind. I use big sways front and rear and it rotates on-call.

lol...yeah, the e30 rally/rallycross crowd knows Bill Caswell very well. Actually, I think he's one of my facebook friends, haha...He's quite a character.

Though I think most of us preferred his original car, since it was an actually an e30 that he somehow managed to finish with. Now it's just a baja buggy with an e30 shell dumped on top. Still cool though.

Good to hear your trip is going well. My parents went to Belize last year and absolutely loved it.

Most of us are agreed on a stock front and no rear now...

Also, Bill Caswell is a douche.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this question so I will post it here. Can anybody shine some light on when the 2013 schedule is going to be posted?

To answer the "anon" question. You can drive your own, but you can also rent RWD and AWD cars (I don't think the few in FWD rent). If you want to rent a car, just ask

I should have known the man with 100 cars and monster trucks would have one to rent!

Throw these dates out the window. At the moment March 23rd appears to be our first driver's school with our first event March 24. The final schedule will be posted as soon as possible- trust me I'm trying to finalize asap. Keep an eye out for a new thread in a few weeks.

The driver's school entails a briefing on how our events work, safety discussion, and car control hints. In the morning there will be different corner "exercises" with experienced guys to give pointers and ride-alongs, and the afternoon is complete hot laps/testing, again with tips and ride-alongs. Pretty laid back and an excellent/cheap way to get aquainted with our program.

I'm excited to see some new screennames in our thread.

Usually they're a bit cheaper than actual events. I'd guess $50 or so, though don't quote me on it.

Driver's Schools are $30. If you're not a SCCA member a $10 weekend membership fee applies as well.
