wow, i have to say this looks like it is going to dress up the interior very nicely. Would it be possible to put some 1/4''foam under it to give it a "plusher" feel in areas that are touched more often?

Hey man, thanks!
Sure, you can add padding to certain areas. 1/4" may be a little too much but they do sell 4 or 5mm medium density closed cell foam or neoprene. It's like a thin mouse pad for underneath.

I thought about running a thin 4mm under the dash to give it a soft touch padding like my Audi did. It's not that much harder to do with the padding but I'm not sure it's been done on an entire dash with Alcantara. Still a possibility but I'll need to decide before next weekend.

My armrest cover has some of the 5mm foam under it. It feels great on the elbow

Cheers!

Did the top of the door cards yesterday, I love the contrast with the Steel Grey and Black.

Still working on the dash, I had to get High Heat contact cement so I have to wait for it to show up on Friday.
I'll throw it all back together next weekend and get some full interior shots. For now I was just slowly putting up pictures to get to the next page on the thread. The 4/2 pot Subaru brake shot someone posted was annoying me a bit...

Pretty incredible Jason...
Totally clean and super luxurious! Way too daunting a project for me, but I was wondering, any chance I could get you to sew me up an alcantara "leasure suit"? I'd just drive around in that all day!

Seriously, great work bro. Any plans for the headliner?

Hahahaahaha, that suit idea would be great!!!
The headliner will definitely be a winter project. I'm saving up for all the black plastic pieces instead of trying to spray them.
The only piece that I haven't found is a black trim piece where the headliner meets the sunroof. Can't find it anywhere!

Cheers!

Haha, after feeling what Alcantara is like when it's steamed, eeeeek! I couldn't imagine what it'll feel like on a 90 degree day as it rubs against certain parts of the body, lol

My word, this car is beautiful. The work that's been put into her (or him) shows the dedication and passion for Subarus. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Man,
Some good things to come up this weekend. I'm going to attempt to run a time lapse video of the dash un-install.
I haven't taken it out before so It should be interesting to see how it goes!

Stay tuned

You going to weld up the clutch pedal support while you're in there? Might be good preventative 'maintenance.'

Ummmm, this is a new issue I'm not aware of.
Are the clutch pedals snapping and falling out on these damn things?

Pretty much. The pedal assembly breaks a couple of spot welds on the firewall and kind of hinges there, making a squeak/tearing sound every time you depress the pedal. It's a pretty well known issue on the 3G boards.

Running a solid weld across the top of the assembly where it meets the firewall would probably prevent it from happening. It doesn't happen to every car, by any means, but if I had the dash out, I would weld it up for kicks.

Wow, seems like a legit problem. I wonder if it's only if they're running an aftermarket clutch or a stronger pressure plate. I can't see the stock pedal pressure cracking welds even thought they are kind of small...
Thanks for the heads up!

FWIW, most were on stock clutches, but the pedals in '11+ WRX's seem to be much softer than 08-10 WRX's. I have confirmed this personally with other 3G owners in our local club.

Not sure if that will make a difference or not.
