Knowing that like you I would most likely never change the settings once dialed in this setup is beginning to be more reasonable to me over coilovers

I'm just having a hard time trying to figure out if I want to try the yellows springs before the blacks since my ride is summer only

^If I lived on better roads, I'd have stuck with my Yellows. But since I live in Philly, and the Blacks became available, I gave them a shot.

If you lived in NYC, I'd say go for Blacks. But since you're in Buffalo, you might be fine with either depending upon your roads. The Yellows do resist squat and dive slightly better than the Blacks.

Well slightly better might just keep me with the blacks

Well I'm no suspension guru but how I'd describe it:

Yellows = 60% track, 40% dd
Blacks = 40% track, 60% dd

Not saying I've tracked them, just saying one is more track inspired while the other is a revised version meant to be a little more daily driver friendly. Again, a lot depends on the roads you drive.

Thanks for the advice but the roads in buffalo are not great as many places it seems so the blacks are probly the best solution still

I hope not, I've had a long track record of bad suspension choices. I changed my mind about going from Yellow to Black rather last minute so I hope I made the right choice for the type of easy going driving that I've been doing lately.

Haha, ya I think its the right choice. Since you live in Maine I will say that my experience with the blacks/yellows in the snow was night and day. Yellows were very harsh & I was always careful about chunks of snow/ice because otherwise you will be bouncing all over the place. The blacks are way less harsh on the bad roads and in the snow, but still a blast on well paved mountain roads with sway bar adjustability.

They will also feel great if you are going stock for a litte haha

First off, the time and effort that you've put into carefully modding your car is admirable. I appreciate how meticulous you've been throughout this process and how much thought you continually put into what will/won't work for your needs/wants. I'll definitely keep checking in on your progress. Guys like you, rsutton and xluben are absolute inspirations to the hatch community and NASIOC in general.

I've been considering getting back in the this crowd for about a year now and leaving my Acura TL behind. This thing has been nothing, but a nightmare even if it's only a dusting of snow. I will miss all of the luxury amenities, but something about Subarus is just hard to get away from. I'll hopefully be getting a '11-'12 hatch in the coming weeks.

I noticed that you've done nothing to the car audio-wise, any reason in particular? I've heard nothing but bad things in reference to the factory audio setup. I want to try to mimic or come close to the Acura ELS setup, but wonder if I'm just being delusional. After having a navi for all these years, a new head unit will probably be my first mod.

Keep up the good work Jason

Hey man, Thank you for your kind words. I'm always into sharing as much information as I can with others as I feel I've used others to help me out along the way.

Before I owned my WRX I came from an Audi that was modded and to be honest, I had a tough time going from what was considered "luxury" to "economy" but after a short time you start to accept the minor annoyances and really enjoy the qualities of the car and how much fun they are to own. Modding is so easy and inexpensive and being able to drive in any weather without a problem in a huge plus!

As far as a head unit, I did change over to a Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH right before I moved in October but I haven't taken a new picture of my interior or done a write-up since then.
I moved, got married and started to demo our home so I've been off the NASIOC radar for a while.

The head unit was a great addition and though I don't use the NAV directly, the iPhone's maps sync up nicely so the turn-by-turn plays through the BT perfectly.

Hope to have you part of the Subie Club soon!

I remember you saying that with a jail broken iPhone there was a lot you could do with your radio. what exactly is there? I currently have the kenwood ddx418 w/ the navi add on and I HATE this radio. it's nothing but problems. I also have a jail broken iPhone.

It's just a matter of time (weeks) before I get back in the fold. My intro came back in 2000 with the 2.5rs. I wanted one so bad. I ended up getting a WRB WRX back in 2002 and it was a perfect match. Since, I've also owned an 05 LGT and wish I never got rid of either. I only ever modded the WRX and that was only a stage 2+. That's probably as far as I'll go with this next one also...but you never know. I still go back and forth on whether I would want an STi over the WRX. The 6-spd, brembos vs the sunroof, because I absolutely want a hatch. As ridiculous as that debate sounds to some, that's what it comes down to for me. And thus far the sunroof is dominating the argument.

You ever think about throwing a strip of the alcantara in the middle of the seat ala the STi seats? I have yet to see someone do that and am increasingly curious as to how it would look.

I saw you in Augusta, ME today! I was driving through the marketplace looking for a spot to hoon and saw your rex parked at Home Depot. Snapped a photo and left. Moments later, you pulled up next to me at the intersection exiting the marketplace and turned right. Then I saw you a third time over at Damon's!

Just want to say, your car looks amazing! I love the tail lights.

If you noticed me when you went through the light, I was in the Silver Legacy L pictured here:

Hahaha, I'm busted!! First sighting out in the wild!
I was enjoying an amazing sandwich at Pizza & Italians and doing some shopping at Home Depot, Lowe's, Target Etc...

My car is a hot dirty disaster!!

I saw you out there too, roads were fun today. Augusta was filled with Subie's, I have to visit more often!

I thought about doing that to the seats as I've been seeing it done more and more. It's possible but I feel like if I'm going to spend money on seats that I might just swap both of them out to run seats that can handle racing harnesses in the future. The stock seats make adding harnesses really tough as they don't fit though the hole and really wide outside the hole.
We'll see, that a big expense I'm not ready to swallow quite yet!

Hey Jason,
I've been running the Bils/Blacks combo for the last three months. I've had my parents, my wife and my baby in the car. My dad and I love the ride, my mom and wife are totally indifferent, and my 18 month old little girl loves riding in Daddy's car. Of course she mostly sleeps soundly in her "Recaro" baby seat. (You know I'm also running the Q300 TBE!)
