G'day,
My recently-purchased 2012 Impreza base 2.0i 5-door did not come with a rear sway bar of any kind (I cheaped out...the Premium and above do, but a small one). I had the '11 STI rear sway bar left over from the TV show car, and it bolted right up. I did have to buy the shackles, bolts/nuts, and end links....BUT if your Impreza already comes with a rear sway bar, you have those parts already. Just thought y'all would like to know. Chapman Subaru (vendor here) sells the 19mm rear sway bar for around $76 with bushings. It's a very nice upgrade! I'll do an OEM parts list for those who have a base 2.0i, if you'd like.

So does this mean you plan to beat all of us in Auto-X using a Base impreza now too?

Good to know! All the suspension looks awfully familiar on this "new" Impreza...

HAHAHA no this is a daily commuter car, I am building up a GC-chassis Impreza for rallycross duties, and will be codriving an '08 WRX in STX this year if I can make it out to any National Tours or ProSolo events. I own Texas Rallysport and know that it will consume most of my time and ALL of my money.
Impreza was cheap, decent gas mileage, decent CVT trans, carries the kids and gear, and is cheap. Did I mention it was cheap? Although, put me in a 5-speed 2.0i with a big RSB, and this thing could have some traction in H Stock...seriously. |

I wasn't even aware my base 2.0 didn't have a rear sway bar. It would be nice if OP could give us an OEM parts list for those of us who have a base 2.0i. It would be much appreciated. |

I have a 2012 Impreza Sport Premium 5-door on order. How does the STI anti-sway bar compare to the one that will come on my car? How much would the STI bar increase overstear at the limits (or on a snowy road)?

looks like the premium has a 16mm and the sti is a 19mm on the rear. Both have a 21mm on the front. that said I would think the overstear should be fine.

The WRX is a 16mm rear bar if your car doesn't have one. It would be the same as getting the one for the upgraded models but considerably cheaper considering how many of the stock WRX bars are floating around.
Then of course there is the STI bar if you want more. |

Does anyone know if an 08+ Impreza needs stout mounts for its sway bars?

I have a 2012 Impreza Sport and I just want to confirm that the 19mm sway bar from subarugenuineparts.com is a direct bolt on replacement for the stock one?

Good to know, I'd bet that the rear suspension is identical to the 08-11.

so... what you're saying is I can bolt up this lil number to my sport premium with no additional hardware right?
http://www.perrinperformance.com/sub...ar-psp-sus-23x PSPSUS232 because i have the customer service guy on live chat and he keeps telling me i need the $400 kit with endlinks and all that. if the chat gets awesome i'll cut n paste it here. |

Well it didn't really get awesome chatting with the rep. over at perrin. I just wanted a little confirmation from the manufacturer about this, and they don't seem very familiar with the issue:
-------------------------------- →hey i'm a little confused Customer Service 3: How can I help you? →will PSPSUS232 fit my 2012 impreza 2.0i premium sport? →or do i need PSPSUS233 →and why the price difference? endlinks? →i do have an oem swaybar on there, does that change anything? →someone has bolted on a wrx rsb and claims it works fine, so is there a difference I can't tell →it looks to me like PSPSUS232 will bolt up fine, since I already have endlinks and all that for the oem bar, can you confirm? Customer Service 3: PSP-SUS-233 is for your car →yeah but i don't think so, since i already have the hardware. you get what i'm saying? →i don't need new endlinks you know? →the base impreza has no rsb. the sport premium and limited do come with a rsb, but it's like 16mm. →it looks like the one you are telling me to get is only really for the base model. →sorry i know it's confusing →are you over it or checking on something? i am pretty sure a 2011 sti bar will bolt right up to my car. ------------------------- Guess that's just how it is modding new cars like this, conflicting info abound. Anyway thanks to the good folks here at NASIOC I had the info I was looking for all along. Hopefully this helps confirm what other folks already confirmed or whatever. Don't try to ask Perrin, just order the dang thing up if you have an oem bar under there ![]() |

Basically a 2011 STi RSB will bolt on directly with no additional hardware if your car has an existing RSB from the factory (I'm not sure how the American trim levels work).

So we know the sway bar is interchangeable.. what about the endlinks? Anyone tried wrx/sti endlinks on the 2012 na yet? I have a base and was thinking I could pickup a rear sti setup off of a 2011 sti with endlinks and source brackets at the dealer. Im trying to save money here..
Thanks! |

As I found out, yes the endlinks are interchangeable as well.
