Default running the stage 1 91 octane map with 93 octane fuel?

Hi, I have a 2011 wrx with an accessport, I recently put 93 octane in the car as it was the only premium fuel the station had I flashed to the 93 octane tune and i didnt like it asmuch as the 91 octane one, since im at 6000 feet above sea level can i use the 91 octane tune with 93 octane gas safely?

also when I installed the accessport on my new 2011 wrx i forgot to save the stock map and im stuck with the stock tune from my 09, how can i get the 2011 tune? thanks

No problem running the 91 map on 93 gas... As for the stock map on the 2011 it should be saved on the AP for when you unmarry the AP then it will put it back on...

Hi there.

It is perfectly fine to run the 91 map on 93 octane gas. If anything, this will give you a little more knock resistance.

No tune from the prior installed vehicle will ever be used on the new vehicle that you are installing the AccessPORT to (and it would be impossible to use a 2009 map on a 2011 car to begin with). The v2 AccessPORT will automatically back-up your stock 2011 WRX tune when you installed it to your 2011 WRX. This backed-up image will be restored to the ECU if you were to uninstall the AccessPORT.

Could be OK, or it could be real bad, Personally I would never run a 93 map on 91 gas... JMO

If you flash the 93 map on the car and put 91 in the tank , that will be bad because you are going to have more advanced timing and you are gonna see a ton of knock and possible detonation.

He's answering vwbeaner's question and not OP's.

And while it is not guaranteed that you will see knock on a 93 map with 91 fuel (some very good maps are not split into 91/93 versions), you do increase the chances that it may happen. The only way to tell is to log and review.

If you were to run stage 1 91 oct map and fill up with 93 oct will the stage 1 91oct map be a bit more conservative gas consumption wise?

No, it will not have any positive impact on your fuel consumption. Likely no effect whatsoever.

I just installed my AP tonight on my 2012 STI using the stage 1 91 octane map running 93 octane in the tank. I thought this would be a very safe and conservative way to go. The car had exactly 3000 miles on it. I have been disappointed with the performance of the car up until today. Thank you cobb for fixing this problem

So, I have wrx 2011 sedan running stage 2. Currently, my car run the 91 map. Is that still ok for my car running stage 2 on the map 91 with 93 octane? I guess it should be ok but just want to confirm for sure thanks

Yes, you can most certainly run the 91 or 91ACN map with 93 octane fuel. The 91ACN and 91 octane maps are just more conservative maps so you will gain an extra margin of knock resistance as a result if using them with 93 octane gas. It certainly isn't required, but some of our customer like to be more on the conservative side of things.

i usually run shell 91 Oct V power

my questions is should i run like 4 gallons of 100 OCT unleaded race gas and the other 11gallons 91 to fight the knock

That's overkill and expensive. Log your drive and figure out were that knock is happening. It's likely during low load cruising if it's not happening during a pull.

Low load knock is normal and not really worried about too much.
