HI,

I was wondering what @ A human earing ment?

What type of equipment did you use? Any info from "in vehicle" sound pressure levels?

When you list with or without down pipe, up pipe do you mean it has a catless up or down pipe?

Thanks,

Brian

That is correct. It is my wagon and I have no downpipe. Only Cat Back. I can't wait to get a downpipe to see how much louder it will get.

I've got the HKS downpipe with my Blitz cat-back and it's a hell of a lot louder than with the stock cats in..

I'm almost thinking of getting something more quiet since I don't want to get pulled over because of it

That's weird, it does sound like mine before my downpipe but it doesn't quite look the same...maybe it's just the angle...

No windfactory that's not my car. That is a sedan. Look at the taillights. Also the tip is not correct. Mine has no angle to it. It comes straight out the back.

Also my Blitz came with a silencer. I just didn't bring it with me to get a comparision of silencer/no silencer.

I was wondering why it didn't look right!

Blue, how does it sound with the silencer in, anyway? I put mine in for a few minutes and while reving, it rattled like hell and sounded like a bee

Recording to the California Highway Patrol's guidelines on mufflers and noise enforcement.
"Sections 1030-1036, 13 CCR, were intended to be used by Licensed Muffler Certification Stations as a means of deten-nining if an exhaust system met the requirements of the Muffler Certification Program (when those programs were operational). They specify testing procedures for motor vehicle exhaust noise alone (as opposed to total vehicle noise). This procedure specifies a limit of 95 dB(A) measured 20 inches from the exhaust pipe outlet with the engine operating in neutral, typically at a speed of 3000-5000 rpm. (For comparison, a modem rotary lawn mower with a 5-horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine typically emits approximately 93 dB(A) at the same distance at full speed under no load.) It applies only to passenger vehicles. It does not apply to motorcycles or to vehicles over 6000 pounds gross weight."

sorry about asking that again ... just noticed the same question earlier in the thread. Wonder how you meter compares to the Radio Shack? I am certain that the radio Shack sound level meter is inferior, but perhaps some correlation could be made ... maybe with the stock muffler system? Don't know not something I know much about.
