Ok.. how do these 2 things work together? Is the engine ECU specific for an auto trans? Or does it not matter what trans you have, and the trans ecu does all the work in an auto?

Given the number of lines that run directly between them, I'd say that the Transmission Control Module and the Engine Control Module need to share quite a bit of information with each other.

So, to buy a new computer, one would have to specify if it was AT or MT then?

I like the MT computers cause you can downshift and the thing jumps to around 2ghz and it holds steady at 1 gig ram on my gauge.
Couldn't resist. |
