Looks great! Can someone please help me find a thread that shows how to step by step remove the console?

I'd also love to change out the 2005 stock radio...how did you do that?

Did mine a longggg while back. The bottom I had to take out when I swapped in the 5 speed, now it's just the lame carbon fiber piece.

Ill get some pictures up as soon as im done! hopefully i dont F$%& it up!

Hmm, I'm liking the flat black. Do you have to remove the stereo (aftermarket) to get the trim off?

with the 02-04 you do not. Start with the cup holder and the trim around the stereo pops off, and pretty sure the air duct piece screws off.

If you start with the cup holder its really simple to figure out.

well here is mine as of today:

Used no primer just duplicolor trim paint. Looks perfect. It should match the oem black just fine!

This is after 4-5 coats of the trim paint. No primer needed.

Im also taking it a step farther and painting the face plate of the stock 6cd changer. Surprisingly easy to take apart and figure out.

Yeah I know its a lot of pink. Lol my theme is Call of Duty inspired, and yes, my cluster lighting is blue and pink.

I admire your commitment. If you did it half way it would look cheap.

The only thing I don't like is the pink pleather you put on the seats, looks terrible to me. But, the rest is cool and the blue on the HVAC controls is pretty impressive as well as the shift knob.

Finally got mine done this week. No pink, but just all black. I kept seeing all the pictures with the stock silver stereo and how nasty contrast there was. So while the trim was drying I tore apart the stock stereo and painted the main faceplate. Just some thing I hadn't seen before. Lemme know what you think.

Haha yeah it is what it is. It was a steal of a deal when I bought it so i couldnt pass it up. It was either this, or no WRX at all.

And there was zero clear coating at all. It's all DupliColor Trim Paint. Its in every autozone. Looks fantastic and after 4-5 coats it even textures up like OEM. pretty sweet stuff!
