Default The best upgrades for a non-audiophile.

Simply put, the two best upgrades are the Sound Ordnance B-8PT in conjunction with an aftermarket HU, specifically the Pioneer or Alpine line.

I took a short video in the car today that somewhat represents what it currently sounds like. However, do note a couple things:

1. The volume is only at 15. the volume goes to 40 (I believe, I'm too scared to try it XD)

2. The camera isn't quite at the center of the vehicle, but is pretty close to it.

3. I did not have an external microphone for recording thus the sub-par audio quality.

I hope this helps people decide on audio for the 2008+ models!

So I take it you like the sub? I took my 12" out a while ago, and want to get something that won't take up any trunk/hatch space, so I have actually been looking at this for a while now.
Can't decide if it would be better to build my own box, or get one of these. I'm leaning towards this because I wouldn't have to hide the amp as well and it would be cheaper.
What seat did you put it under? That's the main thing I can't decide on.

I LOVE the sub. Before the headunit, it was simply oh...bass...cool. Now it sounds SO clear and crisp and each thump is perfect, not too much not too little. AND I can always turn the bass up in the headunit. As it is, I only have +1 for bass boosting and I just customized my own EQ.

It's under the passenger seat for now, but I think I might change that to the center of the backseat. The only reasoning I have is because my passengers feel like they're getting massaged when I turn the volume up XD. It definitely doesn't need to go in the trunk, that's for sure.

Updated video, be sure to watch the whole thing to get the lows and highs of the audio. The camera was now located in the middle of the car.

is the X930BT a direct swap from the 2011 factory unit? or do you need to re-run the BT mic and such?

sounds great though

*edit*
nvm, compared the back of both units and answered my own question

Weeeeellll, running a BT mic isn't hard. Mine is located on the steering column (My steering wheel is pulled out a bit), and the mic is more receptive than the stock mic AND it doesn't sound like your on speakerphone to the other person.

That is the same head unit I want. Thank u. I was worried that it may have been slow to react to touch. It looks to be quick. I am going to get it soon

Hmm, I might go with this.. I already have the Alpine INA-W910 and the Alpine power pack coming (45w RMS x 2).. I wanted something to fill the back end and was going to spend about $600 on a sub but this may be exactly what I want. Were you thinking of relocating this UNDER the rear seat?

So this definitely fits under the front seat in an 08+?

Yeah, I was, but after talking to my audio installer (The guy who does things for me when I don't have the time or if I simply don't know where to go), he said that it'd be QUITE a bit of work consider for it to be a clean install he'd have to get under the carpet and try to fish it through to the center console. He also said that it's not worth it considering the only thing that you'd change by doing that is the feeling under that seat, the sound would remain the same. With that answer, I simply threw out the idea of relocating it.

Yep, I have mine under my passenger seat. I plan to put an amp under my driver seat if no one buys the amp I have for sale in the classifieds.

Thanks, I had heard a lot of people say it was a lot tighter under the seats of 08+. I don't want to give up trunk space so this should be perfect.

Yeah, if you really want it neat and tidy, get it professionally done. That's what I did. I'm in school so I don't have time to spend 4-6 hours making sure I do a neat job. XD

Just thought people might want to see what the sub looks like mounted in the car (in terms of space).

Seat all the way back (w/floor mat):

All the way back (w/o floor mat):

Seat all the way forward (w/o floor mat):

A more dimensional view of the unit between the seat rails:

Floor mat protection!:

Hope this helps!

CHALLENGE! the best upgrade is obviously hybrid audio speakers and an amp with aftermarket headunit. but that sub looks decent, i just have a ported polk 8" in the trunk and it sounds really good(for an 8), so don't knock the 8"ers but i plan to go to a image dynamics id12 in the future.

^Yeah, I was speaking in terms of an instant change in Sound Quality, but no change in space. A headunit and this sub is perfect if you're concerned with space.

Could you use this sub without the aftermarket HU?

I have very little experience with audio setups but I would love to achieve some sort of setup similar to this.

I guess I am just wondering what you are getting from the HU?

I apologize I these are painfully simple questions
