Now you need tint!

How hard was it to put in the new stereo? Any issues that you had during the install? I'm probably going to do this at some point, but want to make sure I don't break anything while doing it.

It took me awhile to get everything working but if you follow the stuff in the stereo replacement thread you should be alright.

Thanks I would like tint but I'm only leasing and it's illegal to have any tint on the front windows so it kinda ruins the point.

Awesome. I don't even have aero splash guards.

That's the main reason I'm getting them.

So far my aero guards have done really well stopping tire spray

I would say that regular splash guards also work well. For the price, you can't beat it. On my STI, I have the rally armor basic flaps. It isn't floppy like the urethane ones.

Looks like they only sell the urethane ones now, at least that is what they have on their website. I personally don't really like the floppy look that the urethane ones have.

I kinda dig the eyebrows. I like how you didn't cover any reflectors or bulbs. Is this plastidip permanent?

Plastidip peels right off when you want it to. Every mod i do has to be reversible. Doing the muffler delete this week, hope to get underspoiler in june.

I like the eyebrows too. Why does it have to be reversible? Is this a lease for you?

That was I was thinking, probably a lease.

I'm very non-committal when it comes to my cars. I have to be able to "go backwards". With my performance based cars, I usually keep them for 4-5 years before trading them in. I always revert back to stock before selling the car.

Yes, it is a lease, but I plan to buy it out before the lease is up. Even if I bought it to start, I would still have done everything to be reversible, when it's time to sell, I hate trying to find replacement parts to get the car back to stock.

I had my last car for 4 years, and a previous car for 4 years, both were only traded in when they had major issues. This one should last me quite a while, but still, I want to be able to reverse what I do, since most people don't do this kind of thing to their cars. If I were to find a set of replacement lights, I'd retrofit some projectors, and toss some (real) LEDs (not the cheap ebay ones that burn out) in the headlights, as well as some other mods.

There are one or two guys that have done this for this generation. Basically you unbolt the muffler at the flange just behind the rear axle, and add on a short pipe to point the exhaust down or to the side. You will be completely removing the muffler, but the cat(s) and resonator remain to prevent an annoying drone, and you get a little bit of rumble in the exhaust tone.

apexracer did his this way:

italia490 did his this way:

italia490 has some videos in his photobucket album of the way it makes it sound.

I ordered this and this and I am having a friend weld it together for me when the parts arrive. I am picking up a gasket sometime this week too.

If I don't like it, I can always just bolt the muffler back on.

One exhaust shop said that Subaru might try to void my warranty if I did this, but I don't see how they could with Magnusson/Moss warranty act around. Wouldn't they have to prove that taking off the muffler was the cause for damage? (which is highly unlikely since a muffler just muffles the sound)
If that's the case, I'll just bolt the muffler on when I take it in for oil changes.

Have you noticed any performance gains? I have contemplated replacing the midpipe with one from a 2010 WRX hatch as it is the same length, just needs a flange rotated.

Larger diameter piping and a smaller resonator.

BrysImpreza, replacing catback parts is generally regarded as a minor performance gain. Most people do it for the sound.

I have to admit i was a little skeptical about the muffler delete, but after watching those videos, I think it sounds pretty good. I assume there are little to no negative effects on performance and MPG, right?

I think that's fairly safe to assume. You want that boxer rumble dontcha!

I'm aware, it made a significant difference on older model Imprezas, but that predated EL headers, direct injection, etc.

Was hoping it gave it an extra bit of "oomph" in the butt dyno.

It's weird driving a 2011 WRX Limited and then driving a base model CVT 2012 Impreza within 30 minutes.

Sure, it lacks "performance", but this car feels solid. I LOVE the open view it provides! Perfect cruising vehicle, in my opinion. I've now driven all of the current Subarus except the Tribeca.

The CVT isn't as annoying as I thought it'd be.
