Default Periodic Lifter Maintenance - as needed, or every XX000 miles?

So my Bugeye with 105K miles has recently developed the infamous Subaru lifter tick. I'm anticipating the noise probably going away after an oil change, and I'll probably choose a different oil weight (I use Rotella T6 5w40 religiously) just to see if it does the trick. But very curious to get some insight into others who deal with this minor issue and have been successful.

While this is my second Subaru, this is the first one to develop the noise, and my paranoid ass is very curious about at what point it's a good idea to have the valve tolerance adjusted - and specifically, if this is something to do every XX,000 miles or just as needed.

PS: Search function works but this question is rather specific!
