It was a fix it ticket, and as long as you gave them a picture of the car with a plate on the front, they lowered the ticket price from $90 to $45 if I remember right. This was a while ago, probably in 2006 or 2007.

I got a no plate ticket in 2009, took pics, plead guilty, sent check. Got a letter back from the court saying "thanks!". Couldn't believe they didn't reduce the fine at all.

Also please note that IF you read the ORS it states only the following;
ORS 803.525 - The department of Transportation shall issue two registration plates for every vehicle that is registered by the department except as otherwise stated in this section
ORS 803.040 - A person commits the offense of failure to display registration plates if the person operates, on the highways of this state, any vehicle or camper that has been assigned registration plates by this state and the registration plates assigned to the vehicle or camper are displayed in a manner that violates any of the following (only parts b and c apply and it reads)

B-Plates must be displayed on the front and rear of the vehicle if two plates are required (two are required if two are issued by the way)

C-Plates must be in plain view and so as to be read easily by the public

Please notice it does NOT say where it has to be mounted that is for all of the drivers out there that have gotten a ticket for it being in the windshield. As long as it can be read EASILY by the public

Just my 2cents

You show me exactly where is states this. I've got a copy of the Vehicle Code Book, and I can't find anything that states when two plates are required. Not that I'm going to test it, but the law as stated, doesn't require 2 plates.

I use to have mine in my windshield, I got pulled over 3 or more times or it with warnings.. However, for the past couple of months I haven't had it up at all and have yet to have someone say something. I also I got pulled over a couple nights ago for a headlight out, the cop even went to the front twice to look at everything and said nothing about not having a front plate.

spotted a Blue 05 WRX on Cornell around 1230pm.

I took my front plate off and got pulled over the next day in Hillsboro, just pulling into an Albertsons, and the cop was at the light oposite of me. Showed him the plate was in the window, he didnt care.

I do as many as I can. Though a fair number I don't see until it's too late :/

A few days ago in the afternoon my wife said a green gc? with a wing gave a wave when they went by on Glencoe Rd. Sorry I missed it!
