in addition, i duct taped all the wires and plastic brackets that had a decent amount of play in them. Very simple fix.

No way dude! You always get 40.2 MPG with a stage .75 tune! Check it out:

But really, I got that when cruising thru Rehoboth (no lights/signs on the roads in the woods) for like 10 miles. 5th gear at 40 all day! :Then I came to a stop sign, and it dropped down to like 30 and continued plummeting

P.S. Kind of weird that I also hit 40.2 at a similar time and temp.

Mine says 30 mpg all of the time except when I am at the track. Then it drops to about 24 to 25.

Bigger injectors maybe? I think someone else posted that because of their injectors, the readout was showing about twice the amount that he was actually getting.

Yep! It's easy. Get a new turbo and the 1,000cc injectors as the supporting mods require. Then...when the computer starts reading injector duty cycle to calculate your mpg...it will be way off!

I saw the one about track day and brakes...asking me if I got the previous one...but - like an idiot - I accidentally deleted your first one when I was cleaning out my inbox. Resend it over and I'll answer it right away.

You boost gauge is reading zero psi at idle? You might want to check vacuum hoses if that is the case.

I meant to say too much idling fail (so I shut it off)

honestly though it would be pretty rough to get the boost gauge to read exactly zero..

On our WRX's, there is a small vacuum line under the intake manifold that does not have a clamp on it from the factory. Normally, it wouldn't be an issue but with increased boost...it sometimes comes off. When it does, boost gauges won't go into the negative and reads zero. It happened to mine once at stage two. I am pretty sure xluben ran into the same thing.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why Subaru didn't clamp that hose. But...all of their clamps are crap anyways...so I just started replacing them all.
