It's a 5 year old core 2 duo.
8 Gigs of ram and a SSD keep it pumping though.

Pretty satisfied. The adhesive was a pain. Now I can have legitimate black garnishes without having to paste on the STi logo, as I do not drive an STi

"Special Edition"

$43+ shipping. I had to pay tax, so came out to $47. Hell of a lot better than the s205 badges, especially when you see how basic they are. They have a bit of OBP look to them, at least it seemed that way.

I wish they would come out with a SWP version, but that won't happen. Maybe I'll paint the spares with good SWP touch-up spray.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting my wheels powder coated, looking for some color options. What do you guys think would look good on a silver car? I thought about red maybe? not sure. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Are they cast or forged? If they are forged you want to be careful as the high heat from powdering can over temper the aluminum and cause the wheels to structurally fail. Here is what I have found from research (posted in another forum)

Just want you to be aware of the risks.

To follow up on the annealing of the wheel I have found some interesting information. Typical aluminum alloy for wheels are 6061-T6 where the T6 is the artificial age hardening of the wheel. Actually annealing this age hardened wheel requires "775 F for 2 to 3 hours followed by controlled cooling at 50 f per hour down to 500 F, then air cool." So failing wheels are actually not annealing, that is their crystal structure is not being "re-set" from the powder process. What is happening however is they are being "over aged" or tempered further than necessary. The T6 aging process requires "350 F for 8 hours followed by air cooling." So by incorrectly powdering a wheel at 350 F or above you are further tempering the wheel. This is what causes the structure to fatigue and catastrophic failure, such as Hydrolix' wheels failing.

Sources: http://www.steelforge.com/alloys/?alloy=6061
http://www2.galcit.caltech.edu/~tong...Alloy_6061.pdf
http://www.thefabricator.com/article...ation-for-6061

This further makes me confident that if a powder coater can confirm that they use a powder set to cure at 250F and can confirm the wheel will never be heated over 300F then I feel more than safe using that wheel.

teal!

as far as powdercoating, just make sure your powdercoater knows what he's doing and you'll be fine.

I just wanted you to be aware that not all powder coating is the same. SO while you have seen some Work wheels powdered, this does not mean they are all safe to powder at any company.

You want to know that your powder coater knows not to bake at anything higher than 300 deg F. For peace of mind I would ask for a low temp powder and verify they bake at 250 deg F.

This. I would not take my expensive wheels to a budget shop just to have them over tempered and crack.

While color choice is important, the safety of you and your car is more so. Make 100% positive your coater knows what he is doing. Just my $0.02

Thanx guys!! I'll make sure to ask those questions!!
and as far as color goes, after looking at some pics of silver cars with teal wheels. I believe that's the color of choice!!!

i don't give a hell what it is. looks like ****. it doesn't look like an off the shelf piece, the center section follows the bumper. but it looks stupid.

but you're right, it's probably garage molding, head to home depot, put it on. post it, then we'll all know for sure.
