Central PA? Where at in PA? I'm in Lancaster. Maybe I've seen you around.

BTW, do you have time to answer a few questions?

JP isn't an expensive as everyone thinks. And they carry rare stuff.

besthaticouldo: Hindsight, would you do the 08 conversion all over again? I really like it, just wondering if it was worth the time, money, and effort...

quick back story on why i really did the conversion, my youngest daughter was hospitalized one night while my wife was in SD. so i was rushing to get to the hospital from OC (80+ miles away) and i was foolishly doing 110+ on the freeway, popped out behind a car and a semi tire laid in the road. i had no choice but to hit it. there was pretty gnarly damage. i came into a bit of money and decided to do something unique. the cost breakdown for all what i've done is pretty extensive yea (220 for bumper, 250 for paint, 350 for brake ducts, 150 for JNA lip, 120 for grille) about 1100 bucks. yea i would do it all over again. as far as effort, the fit is really OEM. i would have taken more care cutting the bumper for the FMIC (one nice thing about the 08-10 sti bumper is the opening for the FMIC) and probably would have fiberglass reinforced the bottom section on the inside of the bumper, just because i'm nervous about cracking.

TL: DR, yes it's worth it. honestly the best part is 90% of people on the road have no idea it's any different than stock. subtly is nice about it.

It seriously took me forever to notice it. It wasnt until somebody actually mentioned something about it, that i realized it. I really like it, very subtle and definitely unique.

Had a spare grill mustache (not sure what the actual name is) and my local shop paintmatched it for free:

It's the only piece I'm not sure about in terms of color, wondering if the stock polished plastic looks better.

Since you did your front bumper from scratch (i.e. bought unpainted, etc), why didn't you shave the front plate mount while you were at it? I suppose it's handy to have if you might move to a state that requires a front plate.

well a few reasons. couple places locally wanted 250+ to just shave. i got a quote for 480 shaved and painted. i already had the GS license plate delete. i'll never actually put a plate on the car. missouri requires them. i got popped once and told the officer the car had no place for it and he let me go. and i was in a rush to get it on, wanted it before we went to chicago. my brake ducts had been sitting in my basement for 4 months.

eventually i'll get it done and likely on another 08-10 new bumper, the paint on this one isn't flawless and my cutting of the FMIC portion isn't the cleanest.

It'd probably look better with the front plate mount shaved. Is there a way to paint FMIC's gloss black without making them less efficient? I guess the current color match your hellas.
