I feel you. I am considering painting the lip and side skirts blue. The fake cf is a little tacky as you can see that it's poly underneath.. even though no one would look, I would still know -_-

Yeah, I paid the pretty penny. But SMY is now their US distributor.
You can order straight through IWSTI.

Unless you have an Accessport, then the answer would be yes. Definitely take it off.

care to explain? not being a douche just wondering... i read that the k&n short ram was tested on a few different cars and it didn't effect the a/f ratio or anything. Plus its one of the few intakes that shouldn't hurt the motor. but i will probably pull it off and wait until i sell the car

everyone says running an intake with no tune is a big no no, although they tend to whine about a lot of things on this forum. Like people telling you it isnt safe to drive your bone stock car without a tune.

cobb's intake comes with a sticker on it warning you that you need a tune.

get dynoed and see what your a/f is...

also I should probably mention that if you dont want to lay out all the money for accessport you could open source tune

all you need is tactrix openport 2.0
http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=53

and either someone to tune it or you can download an off the shelf staged tune from a site like torqued performance or xpt tunning

http://torquedperformance.com/2009-WRX_c5.htm
http://www.xpttuning.com/

torqued performance would be $85 for stage 1 or 2 or $145 for both

so for $165+shipping + $85 you would be "safe" lol and it comes with a K&N specific stage 1 or 2 tune

lol yea thats the autocorrect on my phone.. it should have read Erics* haha I've done a good bit of research since I bought my 09 after i made the mistake of buying the cobb. if i start making power with this car I'm just going to put everything on at once and get it open source tuned.. but I'm either going to go all out or just leave it alone because i already had a wrx on both stage 1 and 2 so i know what its like haha hopefully I get my job after school and i can buy a daily driver and just make the wrx nasty as hell.. right now just working on suspension and some looks

Well, unlike most cars our ecu and motor is very sensitive to change. Any kind of intake, even a drop in filter will change your maf readings. I'll save the technical nonsense and get to the point.

Intake leads to running lean, lean leads to detonation, detonation leads to miserable Subaru owner with no running motor.

There are not a lot of things you can do without needing a tune. Go back to stock, or get a tune/ap for your specific intake.
