Besides the boost creep, what do you mean by "running bad"?

You said you were on an external wastegate with the GS solenoid? Most likely just too much wgdc under wot. If you come to the next meet I'll bring my laptop and I can check it out for you.

Do you have a wideband in the car?

I'll throw out a vote for Texas Road House this week. Good food and plenty of parking.

I vote for roadhouse as well. Great food. Great price. Great music. Tons of parking. And one exit away from where I live haha.

As for tuning software I have no idea to be honest. I'm still using the tune that came with the car. I do have a wideband first thing I bought when I got the car. (still wondering why it didn't have one when I bought it). Yes external waste gate. Yes catless. And I have a perrin boost control

Is that a manual boost controller...? That may be your problem

Hmm... a 3 port right? Next step would be that catless downpipe. I'm catless also but I'm running the stock catback. I think the added back pressure helps with not overboosting. Ever get an overboost code? I'd have to see the car to get any idea of what's going on with it. What are your wideband readings like?

Actually... I just thought of something... what spring is in your external wastegate...? Try a lighter spring first since its the easiest thing to start with.

Yes three port. I would love to throw a cat in to get some back pressure. The wideband is perfect. 14-15 at normal driving and drops right down too 9.6-10. I did get an overboost code and the fuel cut now I'm scared as hell to go wot now. It's running around a 19lbs spring right now I went full boost with no boost control just spring pressure.

Did it overboost with no boost control? If it's only overboosting when you hook up the 3-port then it's definitely a wastegate mapping issue.

19lbs is a heavy spring. I prefer running a lighter spring and upping boost with a boost controller. Up to you if you want to change it out or not.

Also, 9.6 is a very rich afr. Sounds like your tune definitely needs some work. I'm willing to help out if you need it. I've tuned quite a few in the area now.

^what mark said.. maybe try a 9-11lb spring and let the 3-port act as the controller

The Perrin boost controller is fine I've tuned them before. If it were my car I would run the hallman mbc with the in car controller. I would drop down to at least the 1bar spring; but preferably a few pounds lower if that's available for the wastegate you have.

And right it overboosts with the controller. But what about without the controller? Run a vacuum line directly from the turbo to the waste gate and if it boosts over 19 psi then you have a creeping issue.

I think that even though he's catless (like I am), it shouldnt be an issue because of the 3 port boost controller. This creeping must be something to do with the ewg. I'm going to bet that a softer spring will help these issues (especially the bucking at wot

It's most likely overboosting because the 3 port is tuned too aggressive for the 19lb spring. The stiffness of the spring and tuning go hand in hand (more wgdc for weaker springs and less wgdc for stiffer springs). I can re work the wastegate tables to work with the 19lb spring. But he's going to drop down to a weaker spring to allow for more boost control/better driveability.

That's a great idea. I'd didnt cross my mind that the tune might be too agessive. If you're going to be there Thursday, I'd like to see what that wgdc are like before and after so I can get a better idea of this.

I should definitely be there Thursday. Only thing is my laptop has really been showing it's age lately and I only get about a half hour of battery life. So let's hope we figure things out quick.

I may see if I can source another laptop for now and transfer all my tuning files/programs.

I'll have my Duracell™ Power Inverter with me

Basically lets you plug in stuff to your cigarette lighter.
