Default Crazyleo To Make U.s. Rally Debut

(taken from www.worldrallysport.com)

Thu, 01/26/2012 - 15:07 — RallyNews

The wait is over. “Crazy” Leo Urlichich will finally make his U.S. rallying debut this weekend in Atlanta, Michigan at the Sno*Drift Rally.

Urlichich has expanded his 2012 program to include the entire American series in addition to his regular Canadian Rally Championship (CRC) calendar. This long-awaited move south of the [Canadian] border stems from CrazyLeo’s desire to get more seat time in his 2007 Subaru Impreza STI, appropriately named the “Beast.”

Gaining experience is a sane and sound approach for any driver, but what most people don’t know is that CrazyLeo is largely dissatisfied with the progress of his development despite the strides he made last season.

So far, CrazyLeo’s path to find his pace is nothing less than impressive. With the support of co-driver Martin Brady, he was able to produce five podium finishes out of six National events in 2011 including an outright win at the Rally of the Tall Pines in November. This resulted in a second place finish in the overall Canadian Championship standings.

CrazyLeo is now at the crucial point in his career in which he has to temper the aggressive driving style fans have come to love him for with the ability to win rallies on purpose. But being CrazyLeo is not CrazyLeo’s only challenge to overcome. He’ll have to defeat defending champion Antoine L’Estage if he wants to win the coveted North American Rally Cup (NARC) this year.

To achieve this, the Russian ex-pat has enlisted the help of seasoned Welsh co-driver Carl Williamson, who boasts nearly 20 years of international rallying experience. Williamson has never sat an event with CrazyLeo before, but has competed in over 700 rallies with upwards of 30 WRC starts and has even called notes for Ford factory driver Jari-Matti Latvala.

Keep a close eye on this up-and-coming driver as he ventures into unfamiliar territory this weekend followed by a return to Rallye Perce-Neige in Maniwaki, Quebec on February 4th.
(end of press)

We at MSI (Moore-Sport) wish Leo all the best this season !

Definately seemed like a well-run team. They had good stage times as well!

That car was insane and it shot fire balls at every corner.

Sad part is they got hit with an eight minute penalty for having catless exhaust.

They were running third in the start order on Friday and fourth behind the Hansons on Saturday. Leo's codriver was always asking for the Hansons' time at the finish of stages that day.

Much like Nathalie Richard was always asking for Higgins' time.

Ended up that the cat was actually brand new at the beginning of the event. An agressive anti-lag and small mis-fire problem may have been the reason why the cat blew.
Situation as it is now is that they passed inspection at the beginning of the event, the part was never replaced, and it was not their fault it failed (the core).

THey may end up in third place after all behind Higgins and L'Estage.

Anyone check out the subframe and trailing arms on that car?
