Default Tax Preparation, who do you recommend?

I figured I'd make a thread on this because I'm sure numerous people can benefit from it.

I usually do my own taxes each year because it's always fairly simple. Well, this year, not so much. So instead of trying to deal with this ish on my own I'ma just bring it somewhere and have it done. I don't mind spending some $$ and have it be less stressful.

I'm total noob sauce though and don't want to get ripped off or anything, so who do y'all recommend? Please share any experiences and such also! And as always, thanks in advance

What makes your 2011 return so hard? Turbotax has been effortless for the past 5 years, even with all of the life changes that happen.

Turbo Tax. The first time is annoying to set up, but after that, each year, it just pulls up a saved file from you computer and runs the same as your PFD: "Is this info still relavant? Yes? Next question."

I switched jobs, so all I did was remove one and add the info from my newest W2. BAM! Easy.

I've been using taxslayer for years since it's free for military but I've also heard great things about turbo tax.

Stay away from H&R block or any place with a dude dancing on the street corner unless you want your money taken away from you.

Basically I worked for a company that went under before I could cash some checks. And I don't have the W2 either so I don't even kow where to start as far as what to file. Plus it sucks ass that I'm SOL as far as those checks though (and the fact I still have to pay taxes on it). I guess it was kinda my fault for not cashing them right away.

My taxes have gotten quite complicated. I have been using Michelle at the H&R block upstairs in the Sears mall for the last 3 years.

Great returns, she makes us think of things we'd have never thought of before. It is money well spent. She is such a pleasant person too.

It's where we'll be going again this year too.

If you don't receive a w-2 from that company that went belly up by I think its feb 15 or so and you have your last paystub from them u can create a substitute w-2 based off that info. All companies are suppose to have w-2 and 1099 docs post marked by 1-31.
