Default Just got an ej20g long block :)

i got this for a very good deal and im just doing research into this motor.
on the block itself it says

im guessing its from a 97 impreza or leg.
also curious what the 22333 stands for too

i know the ej20g is a 8.5:1
is it true the forester ej20g a 9:1?

Post a pic of the valve covers. If it's a 97 it's probably an EJ20K

IIRC, the "22333" is the main bearing line bore clearances from the factory. It helped the assembly workers pick the proper bearing for assembly.

The "AB" and "AB" are the bore sizes from the OEM hone. Once again, it helped the assembly workers pick the proper piston size for proper piston-to-wall clearance.

Not sure what the "97"s are for.

will post tomorrow! doing a search in wiki it says :EJ20K

to identify an EJ20K

* Wasted spark coil pack on center of manifold
* Inlet under manifold
* Divorced idle air controller

Usage:

* Impreza WRX & STi 9/96~9/98

If that's the intake manifold that came with the engine it definately is an EJ20G built before mid-96.

Is the white sticker on the front timing belt cover still intact? The complete engine code is on there.

OK but if the intake came with the engine and the valve covers have ribbons on them and 4CAM 16VALVE then it definately is a coil on plug EJ20G with 8.5 compression ratio.
