For some folks, this will come as a shock.
For others, it is the first taste of victory. And for old timers, this is just history repeating itself.

The Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca is not a vehicle to be taken lightly. I know this because I recently saw it's track time around Hockenheim.

Though it may come as a shock to some of you, it beat out cars like the Audi R8 V8, Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari California, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, BMW M3 and even the Shelby GT500.

Now if that doesn't prove something, I don't know what else will.

Ford said it's mission when building the Boss 302 was to take down the BMW M3. Well, in some respects it seems that it achieved its mission...

...or would you argue otherwise?

Watch the sensational lap below...

Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca - better braking performance than Porsche 991, faster than Aston Martin DBS, Audi R8, Ferrari California, BMW M3 in Hockenheim. Acceleration, Drifting and fast lap in Hockenheim with sport auto's testdriver Christian Gebhardt.

I'll take the 302 LS when at the track....and that is the only time I would pick this Ford over the other cars. Then again, No, I would choose every single other car first even with their inferior "lap-times".

This is like when C&D pitted the Syclone against a Ferrari 348 and the Syclone won....

Interestingly all were slower than the f10 M5.

I found only one problem with this video, and they were a little sneaky about it. In the brake test comparing it to the 991 911 Carrera S, they switched the regular Boss 302 for the Laguna Seca version. Why is this a issue? The Laguna Seca model comes with R comp tires unlike the Carrera S which was using base Pirelli P Zero's (like the regular Boss 302). Had they been on the same tire the results would have been very very different.

Other than that, the Boss 302 looks like a awesome car.

I'm an idiot, for some reason I thought it was the base 302 that did the lap and not the Laguna Seca. That makes this video completely pointless.

That's impressive for a Mustang.

IMO, the "track prepped" Mustang beat the following GT cars: R8 V8; DBS; California; C63. I'm not sure where that is a win. When was the last time that any of those cars made it a point that they were track cars?

It's great that Ford achieved their goal of outrunning the M3. It's great to get some competition between brands.

Was this the '12 Shelby GT500? If so, lol.

I don't know guys. My 6 year old son and I test drove a Camaro, Vette, Challenger, Charger and 5.0 Mustang. He wanted to know about the Ferraris, Porsches and BMWs. I told him we couldn't drive them. His simple question was "Why are they so special". And with that, us regular guys have the answer. Of all the cars, the Challenger was the most exciting. The engine just made such music...

If you hold and arrange the deck of cards you can make it say what you want. I like Mustangs but they don't come near the driving experience of the other cars nor do they come out ahead in real world races. If you believe this video then you believe what politicians say and therefor are gullible.

wow... that's one hell of a leap.

at least the video has some factual documentation to back up it's claims...

Cant say the same for romney, or gingrich... or even obama for that matter

The point he was making is that just like politicians, this video twists the truth to fit whatever story it's selling.

I get what he's trying to say, but it was a bit of a fallacy... I might believe this video, but not want anything to do with politics. His "if this then that" scenario doesn't really pan out.

My point was that it actually has documentation (referring to track times), where as all these other clowns in politics never have anything factual to back up their claims.... and the second part of that was referring to obama's lack of documentation (referring to US citizenship)... get it? okay stupid joke.

here's the documentation (for the mustang of course.)

Yup. Put R-Comps on the other vehicles and it might be a fair fight... or for a quick and dirty.. just add 2 seconds to the Laguna Seca's laptime.

Politicians distort facts all the time, just like this video. The scenario fits.

love the LS 302, but i work part time at a major ford dealer near an army post and they have one marked up like 18k because of the limited amount being made....

but a gt500 with a better set of tires and a few ford racing parts would hold up just fine im sure.

Exactly, the Pirelli PZero Corsa (with a 60 wear rating) are far from a "normal" max/hp tire, like the M3's PS2s or even the Z06s F1 SC.
