Default Fairbanks Cruise, Gauging Interest

So I'm making an early start to this idea so everyone has notice. I'm thinking in like March or April, after it's thawed out, we get all of the anchorage/valley AKIC'ers together and make a convoy to Fairbanks to meet our brethren up in the north. I'm pretty sure Pike's River Hotel does group pricing on rooms, so we could all drive up, stay the night, and roll back home the next day after having a gathering with the Fairbanks members up there. What do you guys think? Sound like a good time?

Dang, which way did you take? On New Year's 2011 I went up through Glenn Allen with one gas stop and took about that long, but the Parks has only taken me 5 hours max without a turbocharged car.

Don't be in too big of a rush. I wouldn't want to drive all that way if we didn't take a lot of group pictures.

With Glenn Allen I did stops and such. It was night with some white out conditions. I almost went off the road once.

With Parks I cruised between 65-75 in a '95 Nissan Pathfinder. This was middle of summer.

Since we plan on going after the snow has started melting, I'm assuming it won't take us 7 hours. Cruising speeds should only make us stop for gas right before Fairbanks.

I might take the Glenn Allen back down, though.

I'm assuming this would be an overnight adventure..
I would totally enjoy that and we could get a lot more done, experience everything, and also not feel rushed.

We could all do Cheena, go grub out, and take hold of a hotel.
I think this could be a totally awesome trip.

My girl will be here from Germany in April! She's coming over right before I deploy so if we could do this between April 6th and 17th that would be awesome!

It's still on the cold side and somewhat icy on the roads in Fairbanks about this time but it's doable.

Do a trip in conjunction with Tanacross. That would be a fun trip I bet.

I'm down to ride. I've been here for 3 1/2 years and still haven't made that drive. So this sounds pretty exciting...

Cruised to nenanna on motorcycles mid-April this past year.... Wasn't too bad. Only hit 1 patch of ice ;-)

It'd be cool to meet everyone!! Hell, maybe I'll follow you all back down :-)

So! When are we gonna get some solid plans going?
Chano, wanna help me organize this?

I'm thinking we should do a May or June trip though.

Usually I'm preoccupied the 1st weekend of June. Also, between my ongoing prior engagements on the weekends and my attempts to auto-x I might be too busy during the summer, so for me late April to early May work probably work best and then again in the fall.
