Default help JDM ENGINE IN US CAR HELP!!

Blew engine in 1999 legacy gt been looking for a new engine and the best deal i found was a engine shipped from japan it says:


***NOTE: THESE ENGINES DO NOT RUN AN EGR SYSTEM THEREFORE PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR MECHANIC ON HOW TO BYPASS IT. YOU MAY OR MAY NOT NEED TO SWAP OUT YOUR EXISTING INTAKE MANIFOLD. PLEASE VERIFY THIS WITH YOUR MECHANIC PRIOR TO PLACING YOUR ORDER. ***

IS THIS A BIG DEAL? THANKS EVERYONE!

Yes the Jdm Ej25 dont have EGR so you will have to do it yourself or have a machinist do it and Yes I did passed inspection also with not P,Good luck.

WHY ARE WE YELLING?!?! AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!

I've had 2 JDM EJ25Ds. One came with EGR, one didn't.

There are are number of threads about this in the Subaru Conversions forum and the Normally Aspirated Powertrain forum. Since I believe you have to deal with CT emissions, you'll need to get the EGR connected on the JDM engine, otherwise you'll throw a CEL for the EGR not functioning and you won't be able to pass emissions.

The driver side cylinder head has a spot on the back of it that needs to be drilled and tapped (as I recall, the threads are 16mm-1.5). Transfer your USDM intake manifold (and all the associated sensors, fuel injectors, fuel rails, etc) onto the JDM engine. With the USDM intake manifold (which has the EGR valve and EGR port on it) and the drilled port in the back of the driver side head, you'll be able to hook the EGR up just like it is on the USDM engine.

I put a JDM EJ25D in my wifes 99 legacy and it looked just like the old engine and didn't have any issues.
