That is pretty cool. (ignorantly) What kind of tablet is it?

vv Thanks for the details. You put quite a bit of thought into this.

i took me awhile to find a 7'' tablet that had everything i need as far as memory and micro sd but the springboard from tmobile was the best. its super thin. the biggest problem i had was finding a way to keep the screen from timing out while i was in the car which you can turn off the timer but then its always on overnight its dead and i didnt want to go into settings everytime i got in and out of the car. so i found an app to fix that issue. anyways i bought a power inverter to plug in the charger and signal amp which i hardwired to the cig..lighter. the signal amp is phono in with 4 rca out to run to my amps. player pro is the music player i used to control music files. it also has a built in vol control and 7 or 10 band eq to adjust sound. the tablet rest on top of the hvac behind the bezel, i left the aftermarket install kit i used for my old unit in so that the tablet had something to rest against.

Very nice!

How hard is it to remove? Or is it more of a permanent install? How secure is it in there? Do your steering wheel controls still work? FM/AM reception? (or are you just streaming radio from the internet?)

definitely torque pro is an awesome app, well worth the $5

Great job, looks really cool, especially with the "STI" wallpaper on the tablet, looks factory.

How did you interface from the tablet to the speakers in the car??

I recommend the SiriusXM app as well. You can get a straight internet subscription for a few bucks a month.

Looks pretty awesome. I was thinking of trying to come up with some sort of iPad mount, but I don't want to loose my radio.
This is kind of off topic, but I can't tell, is that a carbon fiber wrap in the bezel? It doesn't really look it, but it looks nice, what is it?

Would be awesome if you had a step by step for this. I can get the springboard for cheap and this would be cool to try.

look into the android app called 'tasker'

it will change parameters for you automatically (ie gps on when accelerometer sees movement, screen timeout after car power off/idling for more than a certain time, loads of other stuff)

I downloaded a timeout switch and added it to my desktop it keeps the screen on while in use and to disable I just hit the switch
