Default Squeaking near front air vents

I own a 2011 Impreza 2.5i Sedan. When winter started or when it's cold, the left and right sides near the front vents are squeaking. It sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic. Anybody have this issue? It's annoying the crap out of me.

Do the squeeks lessen when you press on your dash?

I had the same thing going on with my 2011 WRX and it was driving me nuts. Its not the vents from what I can tell. It seems to be coming from where the dash meets the A pillar. I cut a rubber o-ring and pressed it down between the side of the dash and A pillar. Its been almost a week and no squeak.

The squeaks were put in there by major audio companies to encourage you to buy more audio equipment thus manipulating profit margins in hopes to drown out the squeaks.

This is not a conspiracy......or is it....not?

PS - Dynamat, RamMat or any other sound deadener should do the trick. Also take your car to the dealer since it should still be under warranty.

I would definitly NOT take my car to the dealer for some dash squeaks. I wouldn"t want some Subaru wrench monkey dismanteling my dash just for a "squeak". Doing that you"ll probably have more squeaks and rattling after they put it back together. JMO

Fixed mine. Pop off SRS cover, remove 10mm bolt, pull A pillar trim toward centre of windshield. Wrap the front plastic tang with foam tape or electrical tape, so it's about the thickness of a penny. Reinstall. 10mm bolt is just past snug, and does not affect the side curtain airbag.
