Default Greddy T518Z 18g ^cm Info w/ pics

I tried googling about this turbo before getting it but not much info was to be found. So I decided to try to help.

This is the info from greddy:

Greddy T518Z Turbo Upgrade Subaru Impreza WRX

IMPREZA WRX 2002-ON T518Z-8cm² use factory manifold & P850 actuator w/g 11560005

Notes: upgrade uses factory manifold

Type: intergral wastegate

Vehicles that are already equipped with factory turbochargers have engines with large potential for power that cannot be fully obtained by using the original turbocharger(s). After upgrading the exhaust, intake, blow-off valve and intercooler and adding more fuel and boost, big gains can be found. By also replacing the stock turbocharger with a properly sized GReddy turbo upgrade kit, you can experience new levels of power. Our kits are designed for some of the most popular vehicles. For many, we offer various sizes of turbo kits from mild upgrades to full-on race ready kits with SUS manifolds and external wastegates.

I will be installing it and getting a tune this upcoming monday at EFI logics, in bethel CT, So I will keep everyone posted on HP/TRQ including all the mods done to the car

Here are some pictures of it next to a stock td04. and a few other angles.

I had one and sold it due to the fact that I figured my block would implode. They're good for at least 350whp on the 2.0l and a good tune. Good luck with everything and definitely post your results!!

This is only an oil cooled turbo? Very odd for a stock replacement upgrade. Keep in mind since it is only oil cooled you need to keep the engine running at idle for a little while before you shut it off to keep the oil from coking up in the turbo bearing.

I ran this on my 2.5L hybrid a few years back. Seriously fun turbo with the torque right where you wanted it for getting sideways in turns. I loved the Socal mountain roads with that turbo.

I am currently running a slight variation of this turbo on my '05 WRX with e85.
I purchased the turbo used with a damaged compressor wheel, so I had it completely rebuilt with a 30R compressor wheel and an 11* clip on the hotside wheel.

On 24ish psi, the car made 340/300 on Virtual Dyno with a 1.0 Correction Factor.

My trip to the track netted a 12.5 @ 114, with a lousy 60'.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2278614

I love the turbo. Only downside is that there is very little support for it online because not many people run it.

Bump from the dead. What did you end up getting power wise? I have this turbo, it came with the car when I bought it. It was tuned at agile auto a few years ago, needs a fresh tune now. The car made 331/306. I pretty much have what WHYHELLOFFICER has for mods minus the ewg plus a few more things.
I will be getting a tune from Phatron here in the next few weeks. Hoping to have better results than previous.

He will be disappointed because he doesnt have the greedy anymore or the different turbo he went with?

This 18g was not my choice, it was on the car already. I don't really like it for autox, most of our course layouts are tight and not wide open. Without spending alot of money I am trying to make use of it and get it to spool a bit sooner to help me out of the corners.

If anyone has this experience with this turbo please chime in.

I had one too on an ECUTEK. I really liked it. Spooled really fast. Rebuilt the engine to a 2.2 and now have a Garrett 3076R with an AEM. Ive had it for about a 2 weeks. I still have the greddy. Its in my closet.

So I ended up buying the greddy turbo that heresmymind used to have. Compressor side was alot smaller than i expected but I still have high hopes for this turbo. The turbo was in over all great shape with the exception of the oil feed line thread being stripped. But that was no problem for the machine shop to fix. Anyways, Ill be getting tuned @EFi soon, so I wanted to post my mod list up here. Will return with final numbers..

Would of liked to do tgv deletes but ran out of time. Will update with numbers as soon as possible.

Yea haha, gonna hope for the best. Its a healthy motor despite the miles. Anyways I actually decided to have mikey tune the car since jr was taking far too long to make a base map. Im sure he forgot about it being as busy as he is, and also its close to christmas. So I know everyone is busy because of that too, dont blame him. I got my map from mike the other day but there was some confusion as to the year ecu I have. So hopefully Ill have the map with the correct year sometime next week.

Hi, dont know if your still interested. I have a bugeye. Original motor running this turbo for several years. I would advise in a boost controller with a step in motor, it made a huge difference in spool times.

I drive daily on pump gas 93... make 400 awhp with this little turbo...its all about the tunning sir.

Cheers

Got tuned today and could not be happier. For a motor that had a possible bad valve adjustment, semi high miles, and a conservative tune, I'm really impressed.

20psi on 93 octane yielded 301 whp 291 wtq uncorrected. I think I'll make a separate thread for pics and the video.
