Subaru Stars Engine might need to come out, what should I replace?

2005 STI, 88,000 miles, Stage 2.

I have an oil leak and from the drivers side wheel well, i can see the top front corner of the valve cover wet. I'm assuming it's leaking at the gasket i can't see it being from anything else. I removed the heat shield from the header below and think this is why i never saw oil leak on the ground. the leak falls on the hot header and it stinks and i can't stand the smell... i'm also afraid it might ignite, i read that oil flash point is 450 degrees, etc....

My question is i believe the engine has to come out and not having a garage i'm not going to do it... what should i do while the engine is out? timing belt? oil / water pump? I was thinking about the clutch since i beat on it constantly - YouTube-Bacalhau75. I'm not Rich (only by name) so i can't dump 10K into this Engine, so please help me out with what you did or what you would have done?

I know i don't come on here often, mainly when i got questions... with the recent addition to the family i don't even have time to edit new videos to post on Youtube!

ALso, if you have any suggestions where i could take it close to the Princeton/Trenton area that would be great.

Thanks, Bacalhau75 / Rich.

Timing belt and associated stuff + a new thermostat. I'd skip the oil pump. Go for a bulletproof pickup tube. New clutch kit.

You don't need to pull the motor for the valve cover gasket, just had the same problem and it tight but not too bad to replace from up top.

Really? it looks so tight... did you have to drop the subframe or anything? i couldnt put a wrench on the one corner bolt... maybe i just don't have patience any more, but good to know the engine doesn't have to come out. Thanks.

It will be somewhat tight, just pull the air box completely and battery on the other side. The bottom bolts will be a bit difficult to get to but yes it can be done.
