The heck? Should it matter, really, which metal alloy is being painted on? Doesn't it just have to be a clean surface?

I dunno, it looks like oil thinned out on your wheel.

Hmmm. Questionable. I dont have experience powder coating but I have owned and seen several powder coated components and I would say that is not acceptable. I wouldnt even have taken delivery, I'd tell them to make it right.

Why wouldn't you say who did them? Its called customer service. If they don't have it warn people so they don't have the same thing done to them. Better yet write three songs about your wrinkly wheels and post them on youtube Haha they'll lose millions just like United

No that has nothing to do with your rims. This happened because of ****ty prep work. Every piece of metal that gets powdercoated either needs to be dipped, or sandblasted and neither was done to your wheels. We're they chrome before?

I used to own a powder coating company. That was improperly prepped, looks like they didnt blast into that corner very well, or on the sides of the spokes, hard to tell but those look pretty wrinkled too. Although they may not be cheap metal...they might be cast. All wheel and metal will outgas, but cast wheels will let gas out of the metal even more because there is more porosity in cast metal vs forged. Thats probably what stupid logic and excuse he was trying to use. He shoulda just done the process correctly, which means thorough cleaning, heat to allow outgassing, maybe even clean and blast again if you notice more oil or dirt, reheat and spray. finish woulda come out perfect using that overly cautious method. Obviously more time consuming. Obviously he cares more about time then customer satisfaction, otherwise he woulda redone the wheel for you. Probably would take 2 to 3 times as long to fix his mistake, hence why he told you what he did. I wouldnt have paid him for that wheel. I'd ask him again nicely if he would redo it. If he doesnt and gives you lip, slather his name up here and to your local buddies, and be ok with the fact that you are probably the only one to look at your wheels from less than a foot away to actually notice it.

I've had my cheap winter Walmart wheels powder coated and they came out perfect. No excuses take your Quality Advans back and get them re-done. If my ****ty $30 doller walmart winter beater rims came out perfect power coated black, your advans should be even better

What??? You didn't ask for a wrinkle coating?

What you were told is not entirely true. It isn't cheap metal, it's poor cleaning of metal with a high silica content. This is an issue for wheels on the Honda Goldwing.

The rims arent Advans. Ther Rotas. I own those. Just to let evryone kno who did them it was "precision powder coating" this was the second time they got recoated in a different color. The first time I got them coated didn't come out how I expected. And they took like 2 months to get back. So couple months down the road I talked to the owner and he agreed that he will redue them for free in a different color. I dropped the rims to him last year in October and I finally got them back a week ago. I got sooooo many run arounds why they wer taking so long. I didn't care how they came back. I just wanted them back already. I saw the wrinkle and didn't care much. I'm jus gnna buy a new set of wheels. If yer anal bout your work being perfect dont go there!!!!

/\+2! My split stars look great after several years-they are my summer rims. Advanced does great work. If my wheels looked like that I'd demand a free do-over or my money back.
