Default 13.91 @ 95.25 at Sac Raceway yesterday

It's official guys, I'm in the 13's...haha....It was my first time ever at a drag strip. I got 7 runs in and made it to 4th round of bracket racing. I was runnin 14.1 and 14.2 all day

Overall, the weather was HOT!! It was about 95+ degrees outside and everyone was roasting like pigs....

My best time of the night was a 13.918 @ 95.259

60ft: 1.938
I2: 5.669
I3: 8.843 @76.593

R/T: .889

Here are my mods:

Godspeed Up-pipe
Boost monkey set @ 17PSI
K&N Flush Intake

For those of you who have gotten mid 13's with MBC and intake...HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO IT!?

So what do you guys think? Could I have done better? What kind of 60ft's do you guys get? Hopefully when it gets a little cooler in the winter I'll be getting my mid 13's....haha....

nice run,
to get into mid or low 13's you must get a quicker 60 ft time, remember every 10th in the 60 can double in the 1/4mile, so if you bring yours down to lets say 1.75 then double that and you have 4 sec's off your time. thats a 13.5. just try a bunch of different launching techniques, hard, soft, etc, and see which one feels the best .
it has to feel the best for you, once you get your cars launches imbedded in your self, you'll be able to consistently run hard 60 ft's, it take s a while to get the feeling of the car. to totally have control, then double clutching, slipping, dumping, all happen in miliseconds, and your overall times still remain. This might sound funny like a Zen master or something I know, but believe it works,, also
during the run shift real fast but don't slam the gears, slamming the gears can shock the system and slow you down, shifting fast and smooth is quicker and try not to let the nose of the car come down until 10 ft. after the finish line. step all the way through. try different rpm shifts too, some cars are quicker at 6000 than 7000, well thats my opinion, good luck,

your no cal, so hope to see ya at sears point sept 7-8

You need to wait for the cooler weather to hit. 50f ambient temps will add some power and I'm not just talking about the butt-dyno either.

Get a low 1.8 60' and lower ambient temps equal 13.6

ish... 17PSI in such high heat... aren't you afraid of knock & crazy retard timing?

I only ran 15.5PSI on a 32 degrees celcius day and I ran a 13.8 with a 1.9. You probably threw your timing map to chaos just on that day alone :P

If I was you, I'd reset the ECU, leave it at 15PSI or so and make the ECU learn on that... upping the boost but pulling the timing is kinda counter productive, also, on the stock turbo you'll make it work so hard that the compressed air will get VERY hot...

but that's just my opinion... cheers!

I'm with SubyRex on this. Put your boost back to between 14.5 and 15 psi and inflate the tires to 40 psi, at the track. Reset the ECU and then drive it hard in 2nd and 3rd gear without stopping for 30 mins or so in the evening (trying to get it cooler).

I bet you do better.

Good Luck.

Edit for stupidity.

FWIW: I think the boost monkey can't make boost as fast as a turboxs hpmbc since the boost monkey uses the stock system I believe.
I ran 8.59@80 mph with a 1.8x sixty foot. This was on 15 psi of boost.

I have found it very hard to get into the 1.8 60' range at the sac raceways... I think it it because of the heat soak while you are staging. I've sat with the car running at the staging area for like 3-4 minutes in that 105 degree weather many times and that initial intercooler charge is HOTTTTTT... Also, I think that the track has a slight upslope to it which also hinders your times. To tell you the truth, I don't put credit in any 1/4 numbers anymore unless it has been run at the track I go to.

Where I run, it's a national level track, meaning that they regularly do Top-fuel dragsters and so on. They have the best in timing equipment and track set up in general.

If you're going to one of these types of tracks you can be certain that it's on par with other tracks of it's kind (given altitude and such). I would steer clear of the small backyard tracks if possible.

Sacramento Raceway IS a National Level Track. ESPN comes out to an event out here every year, and I believe the track is NHRA associated.

And in case you didnt know, Sacramento IS the capitol of California, and not the hole-in-the-wall city some people think it is :monkey:

No I didn't think that at all about Scaramento. In fact, the track that I was refferig to here in NC is in the middle of no where. That's not entirely true, it is in a small city/town but they are known for the dragway and right across the street is an oval track that the Nascar series runs on. AFAIK, there's not a whole lot more than that.

Well, regardless of whether or not it is a top level track or not I've never seen any cars out there perform in the range that you would expect... Stock WRXs in the 14.6-14.8 range is the norm., Civic SIs in the 16.4 range, Hell, z28 Camaro's SPT moded running 13.4-13.3s.... Different drivers, different days, different cars.. very similar results. If you read the boards for those respective car clubs you see people posting on average .3-.4 sec faster runs then you see at the sac raceway. Now either all of the drivers just suck... cars out in california suck... or sac raceway sucks... Either way, I chose to base how good I do only on runs done at the sac raceways.

Are there any other tracks in a reasonable distance? Have you compared times from one track to another? A lot of us drive over an hour or more away to get to tracks.

Sears point is about an hour and a half away and Leguna Seca is about 3 hours away. I don't know if I can justify driving to Sears point to do a quarter mile though...

Hey!! I went all the way to Sac instead of Sears...and I live here in the Bay Area.

The guys at sac are real cool.. They're all pretty laid back and they dont really trip off helmets or anything if you're runnin 13's.

I must admit that I have the urge to check out Sears because of the weather in Sac. I can't get any good times over there!!

You kidding about the helmets???? I've been there about 6 times and each time I've had to bring a helmet because after each time I ran into the sub 13's they'd asked me where my helmet was and if I was wearing it....

A dude with a WRX with a vinshu stage 0 and an exhaust ran a 13.6 today at sac raceway...

Max Xevious ran 14.6 or so, Stankfootz got a 15.4 in his RS, gc8sac got down to a 15.6 in his RS, and the ground control dude with his WRX wagon got a 14.0 i believe...

VS0 with an exhaust 13.6? That sounds about right over there... I ran with that and did a 13.7... Now compare those time to some of the other people elsewhere in the country.

No, the helmet thing wasn't a joke...
