I just called Costco and asked if I was eligible since I took delivery March 31st. He said I was. He asked if I was a Costco member and I told him no. He said I wasn't eligible because I wasn't a member when I purchased the vehicle. Is there anyone who has received the card without being a member?

Someone on here joined the same day they called & did receive the card. Worth the membership fee IMO.

A smart thing for Costco would have been to allow carlvr87 to participate if he becomes a member. They would have made more money off of him in the long run.

Besides, where is the $500 coming from? Could be from Subaru…

I told them I would join and the guy told me "you MUST be a member when you purchase the vehicle". I told the guy they built one near me and I wanted to join and I figured now might be a good time(sure the $500 helps), but he said no.

If I can figure out how to post some photos with this forum software, I'll get a couple up. Really need to give her a bath, and find a sunny parking lot to take some more photos in. The Deep Cherry Pearl really shines in the bright sun...

Default Cost..

Given the scarcity of the Impreza Sport in the US now.... should I just go ahead and pay sticker for a car? Kinda need the car before August..

It's got the following options:

Camellia Red
1) Roof Spolier
2) Body Side molding
3) Auto dimming mirror + homelink (useless to me cos i dont have a garage)
4) Sport mesh grill
5) Rear bumper applique..

$23527 is their price...

OR..

Black Obsidan + Grey Side panels..

1) Body Side molding
2) Auto dimming mirror + homelink
3) Rear bumper applique..
4) Seat back and cargo tray (protectors)

$23587 (They gonna have to trailer it from another dealership)..

Gotta say, after a month of owning the DCP, I don't love it, don't hate it. The color is great if you're standing close to the car and you're looking at direct sunlight off the car and the car is clean. Otherwise, it just looks like a very dark brown. What I really like, though, is the light interior. Even when the sun is baking, the upholstery stays cool.

Default The cost of my new Impreza Sport Limited w/mr/nav/remote starter

I ordered my 2012 5DR PZEV Sport Limited w/nav & MR & Remote Starter = $26,130. (Marine Blue)
Negotiated price $24,000
Tax = $1500
Title & Reg = $499
Total Price $25,999

Should I buy the Subaru Gold Warranty 7/100 (offerred at $1785)?

I tend to drive long distance and for a long periods of time! My 2005 Honda Accord went 249k in 7 years.

For reference of what another Subaru dealership offers price wise and to give you some negotiation power Grayson Subaru has been great for the Legacy community:

Example of their quotes for another person back in February of this year:

7yr/100k
Gold Plus
Non turbo 4 cylinder
$0 Deductible: $1541.52 incl tax (MSRP is $2522 PLUS tax)
$100 Deductible: $1256.38 incl tax (MSRP is $2000 plus tax)

Short story
I ordered the car Mar 23 and it arrived Jun 11...
paid the dealer today with my payment and bank check.
pick up tomorrow - will post pics!

Long story
- Did the ConsumerReports - best price request. (Yahoo and AAA have similar)
- Knew what I wanted to pay... around 24k
Went to first dealer
- They offered 25k and I traded in 2 cars but only would give 3900 for both...
- I said no.
Checked www.subaruofnewengland.com and it searches all the inventory in all 6 new england states.
- Found a couple of dealers that had the car - but not the color.
- Spoke to I-net sales persons at each until I had the best price.
Then went back to first dealer and said I would order it from them if they
- matched the price I was looking for
- gave me enough on the trades (7k for both)
They agreed. In the meantime, the window to order new Imprezas closed in April...
I kept checking the website for inventory. One dealer had the EXACT car I was looking for but said that now that none could be ordered, she would sell it at or even above MSRP. In fact eventually, a guy from outside New England drove 6 hours and purchased that car... It gets better... My dealer said one of his customers actually flew in from the mid west to get the car (a sport premium) in the color (white) that he wanted. The dealer told me he paid MSRP and 3k worth of accessories.

Finally my car came to port May 29 but did not get to the dealer until June 11. I had actually sold my cars on CL for more than 7k before it came to the dealer. But I saw the car that day and it had the sold sticker on it!

Change the terms of the sale from 24k minus 7k in trades to straight 24k as described in earlier post. I did pay slightly more in tax...

BTW - for the Subaru Gold Warranty - I will shop around and find the best deal and then use the 10 month charge to the CC with no additional cost.

Pictures coming soon!

Thanks 06SE - Very helpful.
Because I drive so many miles, I think I will try and get a 5yr / 100k plan

It was offered to me by my dealer at $1348...

I found this on the fat wallet web site...

Prices as of 1/4/2012:

Here are quotes on the Genuine Subaru Gold Plus Extended Warranty Plans you asked about.

The genuine Subaru extended warranties that we sell are the exact same warranties your local dealer sells, we just sell them at highly discounted pricing. Here's some information about the genuine Subaru Gold Plus Extended Warranty plans, and some information about who we are as well. Here is our discounted pricing on all of the Genuine Subaru Added Security Gold Plus Extended Warranty Plans you asked about:

$100.00 Deductible $50.00 Deductible $0.00 Deductible

3yr/45k $295.00 $346.00 $459.00
4yr/60k $495.00 $549.00 $595.00
5yr/60k $559.00 $615.00 $695.00
6yr/60k $649.00 $695.00 $775.00
6yr/80k $825.00 $949.00 $1049.00
7yr/70k $849.00 $935.00 $1035.00
5yr/100k $995.00 $1195.00 $1295.00
6yr/100k $1149.00 $1225.00 $1395.00
7yr/100k $1275.00 $1375.00 $1495.00

Please add: $95.00 for 6 cylinder, $295 for turbocharged, $495 for STi .

Please note that all of these plans are the Genuine Subaru Gold Plus Warranty Plans which are the absolute best extended warranties available from Subaru. These plans are just what the name implies: an extension of the same FACTORY warranty your vehicle currently has, with the added benefits of Trip Interruption Insurance (up to $500.00 for lodging and meals) , Road Hazard Tire Protection, Car Rental Allowance, Towing Allowance, it's also transferable and cancellable. It is these added benefits that make purchasing a genuine Subaru extended warranty a smart move even if your original factory warranty is still active and valid.

The genuine Subaru "Classic Plans" are also available and are priced at $100 less than the prices shown above, for the same term plan. The Classic Plan offer coverage for the Powertrain and Suspension Components, Many Electrical Components and many Air Conditioning Components. While the Classic Plan offers good coverage on many of the items that can get very expensive in the event of a problem, the Gold Plan is really the best bargain in my opinion (especially at only $100 more). The comparison chart states that the Classic Plan covers 957 components while the Gold Plus Plan covers 1723 components. The bottom line really is that the Gold Plus Plan is a really an full and complete extension of the coverage your vehicle currently has, while the Classic Plan offers coverage on most of the items that are currently covered under your original factory warranty.

Please also note that when buying a Genuine Subaru Warranty from us, your total cost is reflected above.
All plans are sold TAX FREE , with NO documentation fee's & NO additional hidden costs or charges what-so-ever. The price you see above is your TOTAL cost.

Who are we and why should you buy your genuine Subaru Extended Warranty from us?

We are a large Subaru dealer located in Massachusetts and are happy to provide our on-line customers with any of the Genuine Subaru Plans at these extremely low prices. Our feeling is that if we can provide our customers with a great product at a fantastic price, you will continue to do business with us whenever you need parts, accessories or anything else for your vehicle. Purchasing an extended warranty plan from us is easy! If you'd like to purchase, simply let me know what plan you'd like and your vehicle's current mileage and 17 digit VIN number. I'll enter the information into Subaru's database and send the confirmation paperwork out to you. Your vehicle will then be fully covered at any Subaru dealer nationwide. Your identification cards will be sent to you directly from Subaru, though your coverage will already be in place and valid. Payment is easy too. We can take your payment right over the phone, or you can use Paypal or a check. It's whatever is easiest for you. I can be reached toll free at (508) 802-9413 or at [email protected] . You may also want to check us out on the web at www.MastriaSubaru.com

Subaru also offers a 10 payment plan that many of our customers find convienent. The way it works is that your extended warranty cost is broken up into 10 equal payments. Each month a payment is charged to your card until it is paid for. There is no finance charge or additional cost at all for this option. For example: If you decide you'd like the 6 year 100,000 mile genuine Subaru Gold Plus Extended Warranty Plan with a $50.00 deductible , your total cost would be $1225.00. $1225 divided by 10 comes to 10 monthly payments of $122.50 billed directly to your credit or debit card. Again, No fee's or additional costs what-so-ever for this option.

Either way I'll be happy to help you, Thank you again for your inquiry!

Dave Geyer @ Mastria Subaru – 508-802-9413

Will let you know if it is still legit.

Quick question on the Costco $500 rebate.
Does the car owner has to be the Costco membership member? or that Costco membership can be anyone that's an active member. Because I don't think the rebate form listed that the car owner has to be the active Costco member.
