so i undo the pins at the ECU for the EGT sensor.
put the resistor in it's place.

car won't start.

2.2Kohm at 1/4 watt...right??

Yes I have a scanner. Yes I'm up late. But only because I just got back from the Woodbridge meet. So, don't wait up for me-
My suggestion- put back the pins you removed and I'll bet the car starts. Chances are your pinout information is wrong and you disconnected something important.
If you post or PM tomorrow when I'm actually awake I'll look in the manual and get you the correct pinout/color information.

Yes, Jay's right, you might have blown the fuse for the ECU itself and this would certainly keep the car from starting. If you don't know which one it is just go through every fuse in the car in both fuse boxes. If you have the owners manual handy it should have a pic or chart that identifies the fuses.

i can get it to start by messing with some wires....BUT when i touch the throttle, i can hear an electric chatter, like something shorting, coming from the engine bay. the car just seems to dump fuel. i can smell it in the cabin. it stinks and the car idles REAL bad.

i will go through the fuses tonight. anyone be around sunday??

i snaked a rental this morning. ford aspire. what a POS. they call it rent a wreck for a reason!!
