Default Just finished another 2013 impreza retrofit...

Just finished another retrofit for my sister in law's 2013 impreza limited and just thought I'd share it with some crappy camera phone pics, sorry bout that by the way. This one is simple retrofit with the use of the Morimoto Mini H1 v5.0, Apollo 2.0 shrouds, & the Morimoto xBaLED angel eyes.

I'll update it with the output pics later once I get a chance to take them.

Very nice, anything special you have done to have housing illumination like this? It looks like the projector shroud is letting some light out from the sides to illuminate the housing, which is nice.

Ok maybe it is just because you left the housing chrome and there is just enough scattered light being reflected to keep the housing just slightly illuminated?

how simple is it with the morimoto? any pictures of the process? I'm contemplating retrofitting my 2012 wrx but I might buy a whole extra set of lights so i have time to do it and if i do that i might go with FX-Rs. If this is simple enough to do in a day then I'll do that.

You should just get the retro quik system from TRS for your 2012 wrx. Retrofitting can't get any easier than that kit. But if you're planning on going for the fxr projectors then you're gonna have to do some custom cutting/drilling to mount the projectors correctly. That means more work.

The fx-r's are pretty big projectors to, not impossible though.

It took me a little longer than a day because I painted the shrouds more than one color. Other than that, i'd say with time baking switching projectors and wiring it shouldn't take more thank a few hours taking your time, honestly the hardest part is figuring out the wiring which is pretty straight forward. Good luck and let us know how it turns out

A little bit of an old thread, but do you have any pictures of how you mounted the projectors in the housing?

Nice job. I saw your retro on your own car too. However I was wondering how much you had to cut with the Mini H1 since the bulb holder is narrower than the D2S on your car.

Thanks! Not much cutting/sanding at all within the bulb hole itself but you'll need to grind down the back oem bulb holder down a bit so you'll have enough room to screw the projector in properly.
