Default Talked to a Subaru Dealer Yesterday

Just wanted to let you all know that I spoke to my dealer yesterday (07 Feb) about the BRZ. He had very little information, but when I told him that the Subaru rep at the Philly auto show said that a select number was available for preorder, he made a few calls. I learned that pricing should be public in the first two weeks of March. All major dealerships are supposed to be receiving a single BRZ for test drive, and that all customer purchases will have to be ordered - he made it a point to stress to me that the BRZ will not be on-lot at the dealerships, other than the single not-for-sale showroom/test-drive model.

Initially only three colors will be available - I did not get paint codes but I was told there is a pearl white (SWP i hope?), a black (OBP maybe?) and a blue-turqoise that is NOT WRB.

At the auto show I picked up the sales brochure and see that only two packages are available, the "premium" and the "limited." The difference between the two is luxury features such as heated leather seats and heated mirrors, and a spoiler, following the trend of Subaru "limited" models to date.

That's all I can think of right now, has anyone heard this information from any other sources? I don't want to steer anyone the wrong direction, but only can pass along what I was told as if fact. I hope all is true, as one of those first 100 now has my name on it

The colors don't sound right, especially given that WRB is being shown so much, but thanks for the info.

FWIW, I've been told by someone at SOA that there are currently 3 BRZs being used for autoshows, and that cars should start arriving at dealerships in April. I don't have any info regarding whether they're for test drives or for sale.

Subaru America sent out an email yesterday. It included a survey, and listed the colors that will be available. You can see a sample of that survey (and the colors) here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=32

The darker blue (Galaxy Blue Silica) is the most difficult to find photos of, and some find it to be very "purple". Hoping to see it in person before I purchase, but if they are really going to send out single "driver" cars it may be difficult for me to do that! We have 3 Subie dealers in the area--maybe I'll get lucky and and one of them will get a GBS version.

That survey lists summer tires as standard. Wow, maybe the BRZ is aimed at an even smaller target market than I would have expected. I figure the base Genesis Coupe and all the lowest model line domestic cars come with all-season tires.

The cars being tested by the press are all running summer grand-touring tires. It will be interesting to see what tires they end up shipped with in the US.

Does it matter what tires it comes with because you do know they wear out over time so they have to be replaced and you can put all season on there.....

The OEM tires are going to dictate how well the car performs in magazine racing metrics. Summer GT tires and summer HP tires would make a tremendous difference in how well the car is accepted by the magazine racers.

Subaru Pacific is doing a launch of the BRZ on March 3rd. Not sure if they are going to let people drive the car but they will have one on hand for people to look at. They said they will be taking order for the car at that time.
