Default Godfathers 280z Build Thread.

Well, Ive been without anything rewarding to drive or to work on for 3-4 years. It was about time I get another fun little car to drive and work on. After checking out several Z's I was getting discouraged, then I found this.

1977 Datsun 280z.

This car drives damn near perfect and I really like it. It obviously needs body work, mostly paint, new front and rear bumper and get rid of the side skirts. Interior needs love too. I cant decided if I want to piece the interior back together or gut it and paint it. But its going to be fun!

Nice buy and welcome to the Datsun club. What are you wanting to do with it? track, just restore or customize it? I say fender flares and some JDM fender mirrors too. Are you on the Japanese Nostalgic forums yet? lots of good stuff there. Also Ratsun.com is good but it's more 510, 620 and ratted out datsun but still lots of cool Datsun stuff.

I doubt it will see any track time for a while. I just want to start with restoring the interior. Im probably going to start sanding the interior and putting sound deadening on it next week if possible.

Nice, is that the kit from Z-parts?

Also if you don't like your orange side markers, the side markers off a 70's 510 are are clear but with orange bulbs and they have a slightly lower profile. I swapped mine out since the orange lights looked weird with my red wheels but I think the clear look way better anyway.

Ya, it's the j-spec kit. However I've decided to go with the MSA type 1 front bumper.

I'll start this week. I've been busy with school and working sundance.
I did order the following though:
Headliner replacement kit
Center console
Full face dash replacement.

^^^^ You'd be surprised. That's where 70% of the sundance revenue comes from.

As long as you can arrange for a free lap around MMP, then yes.

Freddie Mercury was the ****!!! While people postpone concerts for the cold, he did sold out concerts while dying of HIV.
