Default 245/45/17 on stock 07 wrx rims

as the title says will 245/45/17 fit on 2007 stock wrx rims? Or is 235/45/17 the biggest tire i can fit on it. I want a wider tire than the rim, i dont like how the 215/45 sits flush and maybe a little behind the rim. Let me know what you guys think. Also i was going to get falken 912, sumitomo, or kumho ecsta le what set up would you guys suggest? Thanks everyone!

Personally a 225/45/17 is the biggest I would go on stock 07 wrx wheels. A lot of people run 235's but to me 245's are just way to wide for them.

If you care about turn in/steering feel i would go with 225 down. Although your tire choice isn't aimed at performance, you can still get a good feel out of them if you size properly.

As for the tires listed, I have driven on a set of half worn 912's and they weren't bad. Leagues above the Re-92's I was used to (obviously) and they had pretty decent turn in and overall grip. Also in the rain they seemed to above average but thats just me.

For starters, a 245/45/17 tire is way to tall. You'd want a 245/40/17 tire.
That said, it's too wide. Your tires would bulge out and you wouldn't get the full benefit of the wider tires. Most 245/40/17 tires require a 8" to 9.5" wide wheel. You can see the requirements on a tires specs (Tire Rack the best site for seeing specs).
I'd suggest a 225/45/17 tire, or go all out and pick up some 17X8 wheels and slap on the wide tires.

I found this link in another thread in the Tire/Wheel forum and found it very helpful when I was trying to determine what alternate tire sizes to use for my 06 WRX:

http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Pay attention to how different widths and sidewall heights affect the overall diameter of your tire. As you probably know, larger/smaller tire diameter affects the final drive ratio of your car and could throw your speedometer off by a couple MPH depending on which way you go.

This tool will also give you an idea of how fitment in your wheel well might change based on the width/sidewall of your tires and offset of your wheels. Good luck!
