Default Weird Knocking noise.

I have an 04 WRX w/ EJ207 v8 twin scroll swap. Earlier today I was driving to pay off a parking ticket and on my way back home all of a sudden a knocking noise started. The faster I went the louder it got, so to make sure it wasn't my engine I revved it a few, all was good, then I drove the car down a hill and shut the car off and the sound was still there. It sounds like it is coming somewhere front right side of the car. All in all, I was wondering what can be some of the causes of this?

Little bit of info.

-- Car has 150k mi. on body, and 34k mi. on the engine.
-- Don't know if this has something to do with it, or if it was just me trying to drive the car slow as possible but there was a strong smell of clutch.
-- All gears (1-5) smoothly go in.

thanks guys for the help.

--- Does anyone know any symptoms of a bad diff? My car when moving doesn't whine, or sound like its scraping. There is just clucking noises. Any more ideas cause I really don't want to go all out and try different options and waisting money.
