We tech'd John's car due to quite a few hands being raised on it's legality and what was misled on the Muellerized forum about it being a client's car, when it is actually John Mueller's. Bottom line the car checked out okay.

Ben was following him, and he would brake 30ft after Ben started braking going into the bowl. It was impossible to close the gap after that. Must be nice to have $5000 dollar brakes.

Right now the rules are open on brakes, with no points adders.

If you look at 2nd through 5th, its about a half a second spread (super close), and we are all OEM Brembos and a 245/255 tire. John has a 265 tire, with Stop Tech BBK all around. Either way, his car is legal, and an impressive feat he could bolt on slicks and win unlimted and get FTD in a street car with full interior, A/C, and could technically drive the car home.

We would be right with him if we had his brakes.
Yea those brakes were serious business. He hauled butt out there for sure, it was great to have some big So Cal shop names and cars out there like Mueller, Renner, RRE.

Even though he whooped us Subies, I'm kinda glad he did as he gives me, personally, something to shoot for as I continue to improve the car and myself as a driver.

It's pretty cool to see the tight competition, almost Formula 1-esque.

Thanks for that, I was trying to keep a decent gap between myself and Gevorg on the warm up lap, get a little more "clean" air for the hot laps.

I guess I still would have been 2nd with the lap time I ran during that session, but somehow I did manage to run faster during the last session of the day when it was a bit hotter. I'll chalk it up to my Subie Secret Alignment settings I did right before the last session

Yeah, my buddy got there before me and was basically at the end... so I just parked next to him. I'll make sure to park closer to the AWD peeps at Buttonwillow. I can definitely give you a hand with some alignment changes or tire pressure adjustments, I bring my camber gauge and toe plates to each event.

Basically all I did was set up my alignment the night before, in the front I had about -2.8 and only 1/16th toe out. The front camber plates were only a short way off being maxed so before the last session I maxed them, probably had a bit over -3 (I never did measure) and since our cars toe out as you give them camber it was a win/win and a difference in grip I could feel.

Yea I run my front plates maxed out all the time, still wishing I had more haha. I need to get the whiteline ALK to help out as well. A huge thing is the tire pressures with them set right my car feels pretty good how it was last weekend it was understeer terrible haha. I need to get coils just so that I can raise the spring rates and not get all the roll over. I did finally change my rear sway to full stiff though, although I had to wait to do it at midnight on saturday as that was the only time that I had to do it...

The alk and roll center adjusters make a nice difference on front end grip. Are your strut camber bolts maxed as well?

The best part of coilovers is that you can do ride heights to your liking and cornerbalance the car too.

Yea my camber bolts I believe are maxed as well. I am going to have to suffer through this season at least most of it, then really be able to corner probably around Sept maybe add some power in the "off season" haha as if we have that here in so cal.

Short video from 7/7 the night event.

Bad sound and lower video quality due to crappy internet upload rate

Zhong- you know how to use all the track and then some getting close to that edge.

Great driving by both these guys, gives the rest of us something to learn from and strive towards!

^hehe. Thanks! I did miss the inside apex on at least 4 of the turns. I was fighting some understeer on exit of some corners. I had to full throttle lift full throttle lift to get the damn car to turn. Need to dial all of that out so i can just nail the throttle as early as i can until i need to brake again.

You want to late apex as early as possible.

Haha ya you don't have to tell me with my under steering piece! One reason why I do agree with some people that were saying that points should be lowered for street and mod classes to make the cars more competitive in street really. Basically just move some of the guys that are maxed out to mod and allow them to do a few more essentially keeping a street car but what is really is modded you know. All this is just speculation for next year to keep everything where it needs to be to stay competitive.

Understeer is easy to reduce, but running with such high track temps makes the car more suseptable to being understeery. Here is the video out of our Unlimited class winning evo:

Mueller you grace us with your presence. I was interested in your street tire lap can you share that one? Yea I thought the car was doing ok then it started with more and more understeer, but I was too busy to do what I need to do to fix it. I tried to let some air out in the front but I needed to add some air in the rear. Also have to ask I know you have plenty of experience and was wondering what your experience with AST stuff is? I am looking at getting a set with Swift Springs soon (so I might be able to keep up with some of these other guys).

Please call the shop to discuss options for your cars setup, as far as the street tire lap there are no plans to share it online at this time.

Thanks.

Nice, your car looks very beastly! You going to make it to Buttonwillow August 19th?

Based on your dyno numbers, it looks like you would be in unlimited. Modified is regulated to 500 WHP on Road Race Engineering's Dynapak.

Basically, each modification you do has an associated point value. Under five points worth of the modification puts you into street class. 5.25 points to 10 points is modified class. Over ten points is unlimted. John Mueller had a street class car, but changed out to a tire that was only legal in unlimited class, and won unlimted in what was basically a street class car minus the tires.

Basically what that alludes to is, there are some other general rules that are pertinent to each class, and you can get more specifics here if you want to compete in a specific class to build/change/modify your car accordingly: http://www.extremespeedtrackevents.c...petition-class

Here you can find rules specific to each class as well as general rules: http://www.extremespeedtrackevents.c..._comp_form.pdf

Street Class is by far the most competitive class in the series right now.

I have already run before. I'm a unlimited car. Based on the parts list. I also need to upgrade my tires for next time. v12's were ok, But I need a much better tire now.

I'm not going to be back out for a bit. The guys that built the car screwed up so much crap I have to get the car redone to fix it all. But it is nice to see this event take off now. It was getting kinda of lonely.

How many guys where pushing 500whp? I bet it was all evo's?

Can't wait until the 19th should be awesome and interesting with the classes in the AWD comp and in the Extreme Time Attack. Should make for interesting results. Make sure of you are an AWD time attack competitor that you sign up to be able to win the AST Suspension contingency sponsorship prizes at http://www.ast-usa.com/registrations/registration.php

Zhong put fown 500.28 on Road Race engineerings dynapack. I put down 385whp there, and Mueller put down 390.Matt Dennison is about 45X whp, Gevorg is about 395/420tq. Ben is around the same as me . No one is over 500whp at this point. Not sure on Renners numbers. SOW doesnt really reward hp as much as good driving and tires. Ive ran faster there with less power, although in better weather.
