98 Legacy GT wagon just bought for GF, need some insight.

As the title says I just bought a 98 legacy GT for the girlfriend. 154,000 miles, head gaskets not leaking

and decently maintained throughout its life it seems.

There are a couple issues however, for one the rear wiper doesn't work for some reason, and more importantly the rear hatch is a pain in the ass to open.

Where should I look for the wiring for the rear wiper issue and is there any way to open the hatch from inside, or possibly any way to jimmy it open? I'm planning on fixing whatever is sticking in the hatch once it is open.

legacygt.com is a good site. Maybe you could find someone with the shop manual for that car on disk.
