Default Thinking of mesh grille...

Ive been toying with the idea of getting a mesh upper and lower grille. I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten a mesh grille before and what your thoughts on the idea are. Also if I do decide to get a mesh grille setup, I'm not sure what to go with, silver? or black? I am trying to go for a silver/black accented color scheme.

Mesh grilles are nice, depending on how small the mesh is. If you're not going carbon fiber then it should preferably be paint-matched, but creativity should never be stifled, so do what you must.

Reference mesh/sport grills for: 2009+ Forester, 2008-2010 Impreza/WRX/STI, 2012 Impreza.

I'm thinking black rims preferably insane_one's rota g-force lol with a black upper and lower mesh grille would look pretty sweet. I'm just worried cause I saw some prices online that are pretty cheap. I just don't want to order something and have it turn out what I don't want to hav heh.

So we're talking about this, right?

I just realized I didn't understand what you were talking about before. I was thinking of the pieces on either side of the upper grille between the headlights. Totally missed "upper and lower" parts, my bad.

Yes that's exactly it! I'm thinking the black ones upper and lower. Any suggestions?

If you don't mind cutting off airflow to your fmic, then sure. Otherwise I wouldn't. It defeats the purpose of having a fmic.

I went and bought a sheet of the stamped stainless mesh material from AIH for around $60 and cut pieces to fit in my upper and lower grill and scoop. Works good and just attached with black zipties wherever I could.

I wasn't thinking severely. I was comparing it to the guys that complain about their airflow being affected by something as simple as having a front license plate.

I wasn't stating that it would be noticeable. I just like stuff to have purpose. If one is going to have a fmic, then I would think they'd want as much exposure as possible.

Once I figure out how to post pics I can. I just did the scoop and upper grill. So far...but have enough material left to do the rest.

I made a mesh gril out of my stock gt one. i cut everything out then filled all the cuts with automotive epoxy, then went over it with spot putty. DA'd everything around it. primed it, wetsanded it, then color matched it. honestly would never know it was custom made. I wish I did a write up on it with pics of the process..
