Default Any Automatic '02 WRX Drivers Out There????

I'm just curious...mine is a 5-speed.

I just can't imagine driving this car in an automatic. For those of you who drive automatics...one question...why?

My buddy's Girlfriend has a 02 Salleen Mustang that's an automatic. Her reasoning behind it was she doesn't like "having to shift", people like that should be shot. -James

Thumbs down

Auto's suck

But then again so don't our glass 5speeds
I would prefer to have a 5speed with a broken gear than an auto

yeah, automatics are a joke. Yes people who don't want to press in a clutch should be shot. Some people just can't...ok buddy? I don't get offended by ignorance but the fact still remains, they make autos for a reason and everyone has a reason.

Also, there are plenty of automatic wrx owners and even a few automatic rs owners. I pitty the day you get 0wn3d by an auto. Oh btw hows your first gear holding up

not trying to flame you, but why did you actually start this topic in FFI. We have a trany forum in here also.

oh, my reason for an auto: I love sport cars, but durring my senor year in highschool I ruined my knee playing lacrosse(I was ranked in top 10 in illinois and was trying out for Team USA at the time)...I lost the ability to walk and after many months of rehab, I was able to walk again...yet still unable to push in a clutch in daily chicago traffic. So I got rid of my mustang cobra and got an 4eat 2.5rs. but a year later...I can almost drive stick in normal traffic and my little pos automatic rs is almost finished in the build up and then plenty of 5pd rexs in the chicago land area will know better then to talk crap about autos.
congrats on owning a 2.0l turbo 5spd, the rex is a fun car and I bet the 5spd would make that car even more fun. I do miss the feeling of downshifting from 3rd at 25 (crusing) and putting it down a gear or so and getting that "hand of god" feeling.

I wasn't trying to put down all auto owners, I was trying to put down people with a 400hp car thats automatic. what's the point, you lose most of the fun in the car when you can't control the tranny.-James

The reason is because SOA know they can also make money off of people who don't know how to drive.

I wold not pity the day, has nothing to do with getting owned, it's about driving. I have a 600hp vette that's an auto. What's your point.

In no way was I ragging on autos...I think you misunderstood me. I was merely asking the opinion(s) of people who own such unique cars in automatics. That's all.

My first car was an '89 Accord automatic. I loved it.

The only reason I ask is because the other day I saw a Boxster S...a beautiful car...but one look inside and I saw an automatic tranny.

I mean, true...now 911 Turbos, Corvettes, Saleen Mustangs are all offered in automatics...but were those cars really meant to be driven in an auto?

I mean, most high performance cars aren't even offered in an automatic (Z06s, 360s, GT2s...)

But in no way was I ragging on autos. You misunderstood me. Oh, and sorry for posting in the wrong forum.

well i am sorry, I always read those posts and it is always someone trying to be negitive.

also, IIRC one of the fastest supras on the supra forums is an automatic and isn't the lufinger TT(major SP booboo) vett is a automatic. Both cars have pluses and minuses. I would say if you like a car that handels well, it would be smarter to get a manual because you can control the powerband better. but for drag IMO autos CAN be the way to go. but that is just an opinion. Again, I apologise for jumping on you.
oh BTW: that comment about the wheelchair l

nothing is wrong with an auto depending on the situation...autos and manuals both can be good and both can suck...depends on the driver and the situation

All of you are so narrow minded...

I drive an Automatic Subaru and if I bought an Impreza of any kind or any nice car I would buy automatic....

Why you ask? Is it because I can start my car without pushing a clutch in? Is it that 5:00 Traffic on an inclined bridge is easier?

NO NO NO

Its because I have a bad left knee. I hurt it when I was young and after about 30 minutes of driving a Manual (walking or any physical activity that causes strain on my knee) I want to die...

So they dont just make automatic cars for people that are stupid or SOA can make money off people that cant drive.... I just wish everyone with a 5spd wouldnt jump on the "lets hate auto sports cars" Bandwagon///

Because its more convenient

Thats all it really comes down to. I have to drive to and from boston 4 times every weekday...3 out of those 4, are through unbelievably congested traffic. It's bad enough without having to clutch and shift between every stop and restart. If i had the means to afford a daily driver AND a speedy weekend car..i'd probably get the manual...but considering where i live and my driving habits, auto is just the way to go.

To each his own.

Not to add fuel to the fire but I live in Northern Viginia second to only LA in worst traffic, I know I drive it every day, and I own a manual always have.-James

Sorry brother, the vette is a 7 sec strip car. I do shift it because its got a manual valve body, so yes it's still an auto but not really.
Got you

Naw, no getting me. But ok. I just didn't realize I was to stupid to drive and that's why I bought an auto.

Good reasoning.

People are too stupid to drive
Auto's are for people too stupid to drive
Therefor
Auto's are for people that are to stupid to drive.

Good stuff.

I hate to bring it up because it's over played but I might as well...

The fastest WRX is an auto
Auto's are for people that are to stupid to drive
Therefore
The person who built and owns the fastest WRX is to stupid to drive.

Niiice.

I think the word you are looking for is TOO stupid to drive. You should check things like this when replying to a post regarding stupid people. No offense, just trying to save you a few flames-James
