Well then, I better get to ordering some stuff soon. Do you all think it is necessary to wait for the full 3,000 mi break-in for a sts, or any of the other "1st mod" type of installs (cbe, intake, accessport, etc.)?

finish the break in process.

Suspension, brakes, and drive line mods are okay, stay away from power mods for a wile.

Those look pretty. What's Bronson's interest in them? They don't look good to chew on. I'll be interested in hanging out and learning a thing or two whenever those get put on, assuming it isn't this upcoming weekend. Brakes and rotors are on my spring time to-do list.

Alright, that's what I originally thought made sense but then u start reading around on here and there's plenty of ppl who disagree on break-in.

I'm at 1770 miles right now and Farrish recommended a 3000 mile break-in (don't go over, or near 4000 rpms if possible) until the break-in is over.

Not Farrish Subaru in Fairfax. Considering that's where I bought my car, I'm just gonna follow what they recommend.

I don't blame you, just surprised to see that different dealerships are saying different things.

It is odd. I guess they are being more careful covering their selves more? Not really sure.

Does it say in the manual? I just took a quick look under engine and looked in the back for "break-in" but didn't find anything...

I want to say I read it in the manual when I got mine, but i could be wrong. Either way, you are stronger than most if you hold out for 3000 miles before cutting loose haha

Well if you trust anything you read on the internet:

New Car 1000 mile break-in period
keep RPMs under 4000, vary speeds, avoid hard starts/stops

from: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/wrxsti/wrxsti2012.html

Well I've def done that. Now I'm just following thru on what the dealer recommended.

The day I get to 3k I'm gunning it! I can't wait to start moding it either. Since I'm waiting I've thought about doing speakers.

I know, I know. I'm back in forth. They're not terrible thru Bluetooth but the radio is a joke. Either way the bass is pretty much crap.

Once you start taking the car above 4k rpm and get a nice exhaust you won't care about the radio

Upgrading my radio/speakers/amp was one thing I really enjoyed after having an exhaust for so long. Being able to hear sound other than the exhaust is nice every now and then.

My phone app for some reason isn't posting so don't know if this will go thru...

This is a good point. I can barely hear the radio when I'm on the highway with the windows down, even when its blasting. That in itself may be a good enough reason to upgrade. I can't imagine with exhaust.

Does anyone have recommendations as too pretty good overall quality speakers? I'm not sure I need the best of the best but I'd def like somethin with more bass. I don't think I wanna go the whole sub root. I'm not a teenager anymore.

I have the premium sound system with the underseat sub. Still haven't wanted to change it, added a sub once but the var chewed it up and spit it out.

So I'm still with the OEM sound system, I could still hear it just fine over my super obnoxious TXS turbo back with EWG.

Now that I have my nice subtle SPT exhaust back on, the music sounds even better

Although it is normally turned up to 32-36 out of 40 :lol

As far as company recommendations in have always had good luck with pioneer or infiniti for door speakers. Subs go for a nice kicker 10", have a weekend and fiberglass it into your spare tire.

The OEM head unit is garbage so get a new one stat! Then get a 4 channel amp for your door speakers, tune almost all the bass out of em and the add some bump from the trunk.

Now you have and awesome sounding system.

Got a thread for you Lukas; http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2442492

If you haven't already:

Car on, radio off
Press and hold 1 and 4
Push the tune knob in

Change EQ settings as desired

You will be happy with the results

I haven't heard about this, is it some secret menu? Do you have any recommended settings?
