Default 06 STI AP for me?

Caveat: Obviously, I'm brand new to NASIOC

So...I have finally broke down (literally) to submit inquiry/solicit advice...

Inquiry: Anyone have hard numbers on gas mileage for STIs running Stg 2 via AP (the more OTS maps referenced the better)? My current tune yields about 24 mpg (with turbo back and 17 lbs boost just to give you general idea).

Advice (please): I am planning to drive my STI coast-to-coast, and am considering to do this immediately after buying and having AP installed and configured professionally (Surgeline?) 1. What are the chances I run into issues I will not be able to resolve personally with the AP during this 5-6 day 8-9hr/day trip (i.e. seriously, just how "plug and play" is this device)? 2. Furthermore, just how simple and safe is it to continually be changing the maps to accommodate the variety of octanes and qualities of gas I'm going to encounter between here (Washington) there (Georgia) and the desire to switch back and forth between fuel economy oriented and performance oriented maps?

Thank you in advance for any help here...and I apologize in advance if this thread creates repetition...I'm a bit under the gun here because I'm active duty army and on orders to PCS (permanent change station) in one week...and when having the car inspected/lubed up in preparation realized it could use a new turbo...so switching to the VF48 (also...will that be an issue??) and potentially adding AP in process of swapping turbos... Thanks again.

The AP is completely plug and play. You plug it in and hit install. There is nothing difficult about it, and you will be perfectly happy with it. As far as gas mileage is concerned, I drove from RI to MI and averaged 27.2 mpg in my stage 2 07 WRX. Cobb offers a bunch of OTS maps for our cars. They have one that will be great for you to use in this trip, which effectively drops your wastegate solenoid duty cycle to 0, and causes you to run wastegate pressure only.
