The other issue is that Facebook has taken over, which I hate as it sucks and doesn't provide the easy to use tools of a forum like this.

Sub 10K members bash on 10K plus members in an everlasting battle of e-penis douchery and invite no newcomers. Also new comers think they are god's gift to Subaru's and bash on old timers.

i was blaming fb also. This is the first post i've seen with anything bad to say about it.

NTEC's sight began dieing about the same time, but they actually told everybody to quit posting and go to fb.

I've posted several cruises for both clubs, but recieved little interest compared to the 'good old days'

The interface of Facebook bothers me. Modern social media in general is aggravating to no end. It's too much, too in your face.

I've been trying to hook up with people down here to work on our cars but most people aren't DIY.

Revitalize how? The community itself has kinda moved onto other places. The folks who used to set things up and the reliable Subaru crew that used to make the events what they are have moved on. I don't own a Subaru anymore (Yay, I'm a real mod now), but I'm not against doing meets. There just isn't the interest that there was in years past.

I for one plan on moving to an evo, RS track pack camaro, golf R, or Focus RS. All are better platforms. Plus with the 86 coming out a lot of guys moved to those for some odd reason.

The new STi is a great platform with an old engine. Was going to wait for a Golf R Manual, but the GTI /w Performance Pack, Electronic suspension, and LSD was too nice of a package at too nice of a price. And I'm still loving the hell out of the 135i.

Subaru doesn't make a car that I'd want right now, but that might change.

^ the FA has promise. I would rather have a new wrx over the sti. I was disappointed that subaru didn't use the FA in the new sti. The usdm ej257 sucks and everyone knows it. Why continue to use it when the FA has been doing fine. Or develop a 2.5l FA. **** almighty. Damnit subaru! I'm just sad the evo is gone 😭

Economy is still doodoo so parts purchasing is low. The decline I think is due to the attitude the young douches that can afford a 02-07 wrx sti is far different from those that can afford a $40k subaru or other platforms in that range.
I consider myself an "old timer" here as I learked since 2001. I also still have the same car I had then. I make good money but still struggle with other responsibilities to take my suby to the next level. Not many here still have a suby that are below the 100k member #.

Blame facebook, random drama, also deletion of old threads that were to big and thus new threads were started but they didn't have the same life in them as before.

Yeah, I don't know why they keep deleting threads in the members gallery to start over. Do they think it makes this place new/hipster/tready by making all the threads a year old???

I'm in the same boat. I want a wagon or maybe a hatchback with a turbo motor and either a automatic or dual clutch transmission. There are no more Subaru wagons and the closest thing is a Forester with a CVT. I felt no joy driving that and I wonder how much you can mod it before the rubber-bands snap in it. So when it came time to replace the wife's 2008 Impreza 2.5i hatch and no wagons/hatches were available, we went and got a Lexus IS 350 sedan. Figured if I'm buying a sedan that I can't do any power mods on I'll buy a quick Lexus sedan. We are far happier with it than we are with any Subaru we have owned. Someday when I get rid of the 2005 Legacy GT wagon (with 113k on the clock) I doubt I'll buy a Subaru again. Subaru seems to have so hard-core pursued the mainstream, they have just lost me.

As for the community, it was once great, but now it stinks. Nobody meets that I know anymore near me in Katy and those who do seem to be young bros in Stance Nation cars. It seems thanks to facebook we have become more isolated and less of a community. This is a trend not unique to NASIOC. Supraforums has also died considerably, almost as bad as here. I wish I knew where the adults meetup for car related stuff near me regardless of brand because that's more likely to be fun for me than a slammed crap car fest.

I know I could join facebook and be a little more in the know but my wife and I have no use for facebook in our life. So I'll have to be left out of the know.

It must def suck because the Subaru Rally Team still uses the 2.0 from japan over the current 2.5 US version in both versions this year.
