Let's see, on the 2003's, the following "issues" have been fixed:

transmission is smooth like a Miata
trunk lining doesn't get burned by exhaust
interior carpet can hold up to a boxing knife with no problem
clutch makes no noise (see first item)

Did I forget anything?

My car now has 6k, bought in late May.

Items of concern,
1. AC inop for first 2 weeks, dealer fixed seal.
2. creeky right front strut but only with 2 adults in front.
3. frigged-up alignment, toe, one front tire is feathering.

items 2+3 will be fixed my next dealer visit or else I'm buying a soft mushy Cadillac

well things are bound to get fixed as they go along. think about the trannies, I noticed when I went through 1st and 2nd, there were others that had the same problem. after the car became available in the showroom more and more, less and less seemed to happen from that occurance.

just the nature of the beast

and I kind of like my hard shifting car

though that decel noise is annoying, especially with a skid plate
speed safely

I think a valid question is how much is the US wrx like the Euro and Asian cars? Wouldn't one expect that the US version would have all of the fixes accumulated from its non-US heritage? Overall, for a "new" car model to the US, it's pretty solid.

FWIW, I bought a '99 Saab 9-3 SE in '99. It was the one with 2000+ changes for the model year. In the first year it had both struts replaced, a bazillion engine code updates, and the transmission to engine coupling replaced.

So far in 4 months with a wrx, I've had an oil change and chassis lube. This with 6 autocrosses completed, new tires half worn out, and hella hard driving for all 5,000 miles.

All I really wish is that with the a/c on, I didn't have to rev it up to get any decent performance out of it. Maybe I'll hack a bi-turbo into it.

The only problem Ive had with my $15K Suzuki thus far was one of the hatch struts leaked and had to be replaced.

Thumbs down

A recent problem I've discovered is that the tread on my tires seems to be a lot shallower than when I first got my car 45K miles ago. I heard there was a TSB on this but I'm gonna call up SONE and complain anyway. And I keep having to fill up the gas tank. Any of you guys out there experiencing this "feature"?

Wilkey

Oh yeah, I seem to be having the same noisy cam follower problem as you Wheels. Only I've got it isolated to the intake lobe on cylinder 3, and only going uphill...in the rain, going southbond.
